Amazing find! Worth the drive. Been wanting to find/try a vegan bakery. Had seen this store come up when searching for options. Today made the drive there. So worth it!!! Choc Chip scone is delicious; good texture, plenty of chips and excellent tasting. Also purchased cinnamon roll. After heating, just incredible! Frosting super delish, dough was great. Anxious to go back, would like to try cupcakes, empanadas and pie. Store is super cute!!! Also, the owner/manager was at an event, not at store today. However, family member there (Mom I think). What a sweet, kind, friendly professional “filler in”. Service is everything!

I turned 30 and since I have a milk allergy I thought this place would be a good choice. I am sad to say the strawberry cake was not good and neither was the sliced cake that I got that was grape and vanilla flavored. I'm sorry but it was a bit too doughy and the consistency of the cake and frosting was not good. The service was good though. Nice people. The strawberries that were placed on top looked old. The design of the cake was very pretty but the taste was the most important thing. I couldn't even take a second bite. I feel like it wasn't worth $45 and a 38 mins drive.

Very friendly staff! However, I would likely not go out of my way to visit again. My partner and I split one savory and two sweet baked goods. Nothing was very memorable, and everything was a bit bland and a bit dry. Maybe we got the wrong items? Or maybe I've just been spoiled by too many amazing European bakeries I've been to.
Healthy and delicious!
Great and always changing options staff was the best, really great I would go here often if I didn't live out of state

This is a hidden gem in highland park! They have wonderful vegan lunches like "tuna" salad. Fresh Sourdough & of course scones! Yum. If there are any empanadas... buy one or 4 if you have boys who are teenagers. You'll thank me later?
Vegetarian options: There's vegan "salads" like vegan tuna & vegan chicken

The Chunky Scone, is a beautiful Gem in the world of vegan cuisine and bakery. The owner Oscar is so sweet and nice and this little Euro feel like bakery will be my go to shop in Highland Park. The French Press coffee with the Strawberry Scone and Blueberry muffin was an infatuation of it' own.
Oscar exceptional skill in creating vegan delights is evident in every bite you take Yummy!!! The food was so delicious, the Vegan Ceviche, was a true testament to their culinary expertise and passion for vegan baking.
This cute little bakery is welcoming creating an atmosphere that's as warm and inviting as the aroma of their freshly baked goods. Whether you're a long-time vegan or just curious about plant-based eating, The Chunky Scone is a place you need to experience. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Their commitment to quality, community, and delicious vegan options is truly commendable.

Had lots of good food there—highly recommend!
I absolutely LOVED the vegan gluten-free baked goods my partner got for us from The Chunky Scones - so delicious, excellent texture & mouth feel, and easy to digest! Recently, we went while Simbiótico Coffee was there, and the oat milk latte was incredible. After stepping inside for the first time, I was impressed by how good everything smelled and the wide variety of food & goodies on display. The storefront is small, but cozy and efficient.
The location is very convenient, on St. Johns Ave. just north of Roger Williams Ave., directly across from the "Ravinia Train Station North" parking lot. If it's not too busy, you can park in the metered lot for free (read the signs for restrictions). There's free street parking around the area, as well. It's a small location, but apparently they're really efficient so there's rarely a line. There are also a lot of cool shops and the nearby park is really nice (they occasionally have food trucks there in the summer), so it's worth a walkthrough. There are a few outdoor seats, and the park is very close, so I can walk my dog while my partner runs in for baked goodies.
Everyone at The Chunky Scones is so friendly! I love the mega-chill vibe they have, and I'm so happy to see they're fans of lucha libre freestyle wrestling (they've even co-sponsored a vegan market with lucha libre performances featuring GALLI stars like Lince Dorado, Bandolero, Aramís, El Torero, Sexy Star II, Shazza McKenzie, Victor "El Sueño" Iniestra, and more). I look forward to my partner - who loves this place - bringing home more goodies from The Chunky Scone. If I'm in the area, I might also pop in occasionally for a treat. They like our dog, which is also cool!
Vegetarian options: Many MANY vegan options!
