Usually love his place. Seems there was a problem in the kitchen. Understaffed and according to our waitress, a language barrier from the chef. Food took a long time to come out. Not always correct, not warm enough and under seasoned. A real miss. Will go back at some point because I have had many wonderful meals there but it won't be for a while as I shake off mediocre experience.
I've lived in the area for 50 years and it's still the best Italian restaurant!!! Outstanding in every way!!!
Always love seeing everyone there. Treat us like family. We've been going there for over 35 years!!
Fabulous server & fantastic piping hot food!! Can't wait to come back again!! Love the old school charm!! Always a wonderful dining experience!! Loved everything!!
The food and wine were outstanding. The service was superb. We discovered new things on the menu that we hadn't tried before and the experience was wonderful. I eventually want to try everything on the menu; I have not been disappointed yet. This restaurant is a gem.
Food was excellent as was the service. In addition, there were two musicians providing very enjoyable background music.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Listening to Carl at the piano was a special delight to further enjoy the evening. Highly recommend especially on a Wednesday when they have music.
Del Rio is our “go to” restaurant for celebrations. The food, service, and ambiance are consistently excellent.
We both ordered Veal Modenese. The texture of the veal was more like a ground burger than a pounded veal medallion. Perhaps they used tenderizer? Whatever the cause, we have had veal in Italian Restaurants hundreds of times and never had veal like this. We both didn't like it. We asked the server, who was very nice and attentive, about it, telling her we thought the veal consistency was weird. She sampled a piece in the kitchen and said that's the way it's supposed to taste. We also found our wine which we paid $51 a bottle for, was available at Binny's for $11.99. That markup seems excessive. We won't go back to Del Rios.
Food was excellent, we had the short ribs and they were so tender you could cut them with a fork. The polenta was excellent also. Very attractive dining room and the service was excellent.

Best restaurant in Highwood, the Veal was outstanding, the Ravioli Sampler was a great idea and executed well. Great wine list, service and hosts... What else would you want when dining?
We have been going to Del Rio for 42 years and have never been disappointed. We had great food and a wonderful, attentive server. We look forward to our next visit.
We will definitely be back. The food was delicious! The service was exceptional...felt like we were family!
It's one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Chicago. It's as good as the restaurants in Rome!
The food, service and ambiance at Del Rio cannot be beat. This is an awesome restaurant. The owners are always there making the rounds of the tables to confirm everything perfect. Been going here for 50 years and never had a bad meal.
