I have been here a few times recently, but frankly it’s not always on my radar. We live in Lake Forest, which is seriously lacking in choices for carry out. For whatever reason we decided to stop and pick up dinner. I love their pies….and the chicken and biscuits. I love Rueben sandwiches, but I haven’t had a good one in years. I ordered one tonight. IT WAS THE BEST RUEBEN I’VE HAD IN 10 YEARS… Well done, Jay Lovell.

Jay's is a quaint, nicely decorated restaurant with quite excellent food. Just to be clear, the burgers and fries are awesome, but there are plenty of other tasty, well-prepared items on the menu as well (try one of the fish entrees; those alone will keeo you coming back). Don't skip the blueberry pie if they have it. Don't be surprised if you find Jay or his lovely wife at the register.

It's cute but overpriced and portions suck. My sandwich didn't fill me up and way too many fries. Disappointed all around since I was hungry coming from school.

Stopped in for lunch, staff was friendly and the food was alright. But the owner who was handling cash would constantly open the front fridge and eat pieces of the pies that are for sale, super gross. Stay away from those pies at the front display ?

A bit pricey for a "just okay" breakfast. $11 waffle with pecans was very tough (better at home with a mix!) .. and they advertised it as a "sweet cream waffle" .. it did not come with sweet cream, nor any butter. Had to ask for butter (was given a hard packaged "pat" of butter .. and had to ask for silverware and napkins. Tables and chairs were a bit "sticky" .. perhaps needing a good cleaning. Was nice to try a "new place" for us but probably won't be back ...
