This place has amazing pizza. They import their flour from Italy and you can tell the difference. I am gluten sensitive and I can eat their pizza without trouble. We prefer the take and bake. The pizza came out hot and delicious.

LOVE!!! Best Pizza I’ve EVER had as it’s imported dough from Italy that actually makes me feel nourished & NOT BLOATED after eating!!! This especially amazing since I’m gluten intolerant and cannot eat our American wheat here in the states but can eat regular Italian wheat without issues!! Just wish you were closer to Bourbonnais!!! It’s worth the hour drive up tho!!! A food company you can trust!!! How nice for a change!! Always enjoy talking with the friendly owner- knowledgeable about their products!!!! Highly recommend!!!

Altamura is delicious and of the highest quality. I love the pizzas, salads, tortellini soup, meatballs, and always keep some eggplant Parmesan in my freezer - it is the best! Carmella goes above and beyond with creative solutions when entertaining and Altamura is always a hit. Do not miss the Hinsdale gem!

I'm from Pittsburgh and I'm visiting... While riding my bike through Hinsdale I saw the restaurant and it looked amazing... I wouldn't consider myself a pizza connoisseur but I have tasted many different varieties of pizza... I can't say how disappointed I was in the quality of the pizza that I received... it literally was terrible... there was no cheese there was no sauce... I felt like I was eating crust that tasted like shoe leather.. very disappointed...would not recommend Altamura..

Carmela is such a kind hearted person who really takes care of her customers. The food is absolutely delicious and tastes like Italy. As someone with Celiac disease, I trust eating here as they make as they take my disease very seriously when making gluten free pizza. The crust is perfectly crunchy and the red sauce is the best sauce I’ve ever had in my life. Definitely safe for other gf people.

Vegan/gluten-free pizza is overpriced for what you get. It's good, but not amazing for the price. I've paid much less for better tasting pizza at other restaurants. I realize this option isn't the core of their menu, so there's some leeway.

All the same, it's still great that it's offered as an option on their menu. I appreciate places that want to accommodate guests with different dietary needs.

If you want to experience a trip to Italy. Definitely try the margherita pizza! One bite brought back me back. Delicious crust and sauce with fresh mozzarella and basil on each slice. Lovely place with friendly service. Took home the arancini for dinner. Can’t wait to try them tonight!

Kid-friendliness: The gentleman who took our order was super nice. Brought our order out very quickly.

I loved Altamura's pizza when the pizza dough was really freshly made. After baking at home you were getting a pizza with a great bubbly crust. The pizza crust they are using now is pre-baked. Just not the same as it used to be. Now its just meh...

The food was very good (varied pizzas, a pan of baked penne and a pan of meatballs); the service was friendly. My only complaint was I asked the food to be catered for a party I was hosting. Catering normally means the food is delivered hot and ready to serve so the host doesn't have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Everything was delivered ice cold with cooking instructions. I spent an hour away from my guests having to cook in shifts (the two pans and five pizzas). Everyone enjoyed the food, but the day was not as planned.

Adding to Altamura's response. My only comment to benefit future customers is remove catering from your website. Carry and bake is not catering. Again, catering means food is "serve and eat." So if the food is meant to be hot, it is delivered hot. Just a thought.

Great little Italian shop in downtown Hinsdale. The pizza slice was delicious, ended up getting a take and bake as well. Fun place.
