Kyoto Japanese Restaurant

I rarely write reviews, but my experience at Kyoto in Hoffman Estates was unacceptable on multiple levels. First and foremost, the service was incredibly poor—slow, inattentive, and disorganized. Our server seemed confused from the start and barely checked on our table.

But the worst part? They served shrimp to someone in our party who clearly stated they had a shellfish allergy. We mentioned the allergy multiple times, and they still brought out a dish with shrimp. That kind of negligence is dangerous and completely irresponsible. Luckily, we caught it before it was eaten, but it could have been a medical emergency.

On top of all that, when we asked for Sprite, they said they didn’t have any. No alternatives offered, no apology—just a shrug.

Between the careless service, serious allergy mishandling, and lack of basic drink options, I won’t be returning and I definitely can’t recommend this place to anyone. Disappointed and frustrated.

Personally, I actually came here just to visit the fountain, and the statues in front of the restaurant. So my opinion is probably not going to be very reliable, but I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the outside of the restaurant. Personally, I thought it was pretty beautiful, and is very representative of the ambience that is commonly associated with Japanese cuisine. As for the food, I didn’t try anything, but given my experience of everything else, I would say, it’s going to be awesome!

First time here and I liked everything. We got the filet mignon and that's so good. I also liked the salad dressing, the dipping sauces and the soup (but not the chicken breast)

Always delivers with everything. Been going here for hibachi ever since. The other places don't even compare. Their fried rice just tastes to great. Always worth!!!

I haven't tried both sides of the restaurant because as I keep getting stuck on their sushi, which is good. My friends who have had the hibachi were quite enthusiastic.
