My kids love Steak n Shake, but the last several of them we've visited have been a huge disappointment. I was hoping this one would be different because honestly, I like them too, and it did not disappoint!
It's family owned and operated and kept clean like someone's mother-in-law is due for a visit. While I'm still getting used to all the automated things going on, there was a young woman who was happy to help right away. It was kinda weird that the customers were even cheerful and friendly, but if you're having a burger and a shake, you can't really be mad, can you?
Kid-friendliness: Perfect for kids but lots of older folx too!
It's been so long since we stopped in a Steak n Shake but I couldn't think of anything negative on my recent visit so 5 stars it is! This place has always brought nostalgia to us in our young adult years and we were pleased that it was still a pleasant experience! Our family arrived late in the night and they were still an hour from closing, half of the chairs were put up on top of the tables but the remaining staff was all good to let us in (no thanks to Chicago Ramen -- read my other review about it) and put extra chairs down for us.
We had no wait in ordering since they had opened kiosks. It was super easy process and it didn't even break a bank. We got our bellies filled for a family of 4 under $30 with drinks and kids meals. The most expensive "meal" was my Spaghetti Chili 5-Way at $7. With inflation in the economy nowadays, I’m shocked that price still exists. Everyone loved the skinny fries and it tasted great with their Frisco sauce.
The only thing that was a bit of a hassle is that you needed to keep a QR code to scan for drinks. But if the machine gives you any trouble just ask staff for help and you should be good to go. Another bonus is the bathroom was very clean and that's a great impression.
We used to come here with our friends for late night meals and this place brought back some memories. I'm just glad they're still around and the food still tastes great. It's not your upper high end restaurant and if your expectations are in line, it's honestly the perfect place for a quick eat. Our whole family and kids loved it. We didn't get the shakes this time but will be back for it. Thanks for feeding us on a night where other places turned us away, Steak 'n Shake. You did nice! :)

I asked if they can add banana to my strawberry shake, the old lady said we don't do side by side shakes anymore. I said not a side by side, a strawberry shake with banana mixed in. She said she can't do that. I said I would pay more. She said it wasn't an option. I said what to add bananas in your blender for extra money isn't an option. She said no. But on their sign they are known for their milkshakes 🤣. I'm Flabbergasted

Wow, this place has gone downhill so so much. It used to be THE spot for casual dinners, grabbing a shake, etc. Now it’s just sterile inside, everything is only ordered by kiosk, and the prices are high. I was astonished when I got a burger today only to find it completely flavorless. They definitely switched their recipe and buns at some point because it literally tasted like one of those frozen burgers you can buy at the grocery or dollar store and microwave at home. I’m super bummed and feel like this place probably doesn’t have much life left in it :( Also the milkshakes were just OK— they used to be better, too.
Love the staff, but guys two orders and both of them made me and my significant other sick (food poisoning). Great people. Just need to be trained better! Please fix this before someone gets hurt.

This particular steak and steak has made some great improvements to the restaurant and really brightened the parking lot up so drivers can see it coming off the main road, and not to mention the lot for safety etc...it's located by hotels, and highway. Great location. The customer service has always been great at this place. Real BIG SHOUT OUT TO STAFF!!! I hope management appreciates what they do. Food is always nice and hot and real delicious! ENJOY YO!!!

My pregnant wife ordered a plain bacon double cheeseburger with extra cheese. The staff was friendly enough. We got the burger rather quickly but here’s the caveat, there was no bacon on the double bacon cheeseburger. She immediately began to cry when she inspected her burger.
