By far the best Mexican restaurant around. Best shrimp tacos and refried beans I’ve had. The owner Eduardo does amazing catering as well—he’ll do anything, not just Mexican food. We use him at the local schools staff meals and he is affordable, accommodating, and most importantly everyone always raves about the food.

If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful Mexican food at great prices, Sofia’s Place is the spot!

I stopped in on a Tuesday and couldn’t resist their Taco Tuesday special — only $2.00 each. The tacos came loaded with fresh onion and cilantro, and I tried both chicken and beef. The meat was well-seasoned, tender, and perfectly balanced with the toppings. The fresh lime and salsa on the side were a great touch that really elevated the flavor.

They also offer Lunch Especials Tuesday through Thursday, like enchiladas or taco dinners with marinated pork, which looked amazing. Prices are fair considering the quality and portion sizes.

The atmosphere is cozy and casual, and the service was quick and friendly. All employees are great!! It’s the kind of place where you can grab a quick bite during lunch or sit down with friends for a relaxed meal.

Overall, Sofia’s Place delivers excellent food, unbeatable taco deals, and a welcoming vibe. Highly recommend checking it out — especially on Taco Tuesday! 🌮🍻

I ordered a large side of rice and beans, and when I asked for hot sauce, I was charged for a large portion. I only wanted a tiny, regular side of green hot sauce, so I’m baffled by the extra charge. I won’t be returning. What Mexican restaurant charges for a tiny side of hot sauce?

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in Lake County. The food is spectacular every time, drinks are delicious, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, and their desserts are worthy of their own bakery shoppe. The tacos were full plump and juicy, and the burrito was sublime. The meat is always fresh and flavorful. I can’t say enough great things.

Their steak tacos are good. They’re fajitas are awesome. They have really good margaritas. Hard to find nowadays. It seems just stay away from the shrimp. They have great chips and a variety of salsa. It’s always clean plenty of seating in a game room off to the side with its own entrance, you get a lot of food, especially if you order the fajitas you can feed two people

Parking: You definitely will not have to worry about waiting to park. It’s in a little strip mall and plenty of parking parking always

Kid-friendliness: There’s also a little bakery, couple bubblegum machines or tattoo machines for kids and they give them something to color around while waiting

Wheelchair accessibility: Super small ramp to get up on the sidewalk by the entryway, there are no stairs so it’s easy access and plenty of room for a wheelchair as they have tables in the center that are movable and booths off to the side.

First they charge for chips, now they take away the sauce that you pour on tacos. Was an amazing place to eat but will go down hill quick when you nickel and dime customer. Sofias place literally charges you for water when you ask for a cup of water.
You can go to any shop around taco elnorte, Alonso’s, el norteno and not get nickel and dimed like this place does to their customers let alone they all give you sauce to pour on your tacos. Sad to see this happen because I loved this joint.

Update, they brought back their sauce bottles. Happy to see it.

Food is good but they charge Xtra for chips and water. Apparently they don't split checks. Seems like there has been some changes recently and not for the better.
