This place is great!!! Food was excellent: tasty, served piping hot, and very reasonably priced. Really cute inside with a beautiful painting on the back wall. The churros were especially delicious. Excellent staff, too!

Ordered a burrito and a sope
Burrito presentation was good but the taste as i keep eating keep getting worse
I always eat my burrito with salsa and it just didn’t quite make me want to eat more
The sope looked so good when i unwrapped it but it had the same effect as the burrito
The food is better then the place across the street
But I would rather go to Raul’s original
Now this next part might just be my own body but I did vomit as soon as I drank a bit of soda with my food and as soon as I was done I called and was advised to go to the hospital because of something I ate last night.
In fair chance if u have a weak stomach like me, do not go here.

Best Mexican food in the area hands down, great service, friendly owners & employees...check it out & see for yourself if you've never tried Chelo's before. They are far superior to the other places nearby in Island Lake 💯

This place is fire. Excellent salsas the owners are great. My order got messed up for the first time ever and they went above and beyond to make it right. Will revisit again soon
Good place to eat and close enough for all Island Lakers!
The best place in island lake for Mexican food. But over the years the portions keep shrinking while the price keeps climbing. It’s honestly not worth the cost anymore. Travel a little further east into Wauconda. Several good places that all have a much better cost to portions ratio with similar or better taste.
Great food and the staff is super friendly. This is becoming my go to spot.
The food & customer service is great. Highly recommend giving them a try!

The best Mexican food in the area. The corn tortillas are delicious, and all of their salsas are so good, the spicy orange sauce is my favorite. Our go to place for tacos!
