Sat outside Sunday evening. Tried the lager and an IPA, both were really good. Had a pizza which was also good. Orders got messed up like they have us flatbreads on half the orders that were supposed to be full pizzas and missed a cauliflower crust swap. Other than that had a good time.
Fine pour at Schaumburg Fest
Agree with the other comments about the bad dumpster smell outside. One of my kids literally plugged their nose. So inside we went. There are fans now. Disappointed they didn’t have a high chair. I realize not many babies probably come in but there was actually another one there while we were there so…
I’m not from Illinois, so maybe the prices are average but I had a bit of sticker shock. Most of their 4 oz pours are $4! So a flight was $15….in other words I paid $15 for a pint amount of standard beer (nothing heavy or fancy). Also the prices on the website menu are not accurate so that was a disappointment. Also very surprised to see a credit card fee when I spent so much. Again, maybe that’s normal around Chicago?
Food was good. We got the chicken pesto and BLT club. Both very good. Also got a BBQ chicken pizza, which was good. They were out of both potato salad AND chili at 5 on a Saturday so we had to get kettle chips with our sandwiches. Thought they’d be homemade at least but def were not. $15 for a 6-8 inch sandwich and a handful of chips from a bag felt steep.
Overall had a bit of buyers remorse as we left. Not a great location. Decent food but overpriced. Wish we went to my husbands suggested restaurant (I’ll let him pick next time ha ha). I’ve been to breweries with bomb scratch made foods at a lower price point. Won’t be back on our next trip through Chicago.
If you have any dietary restrictions, I would avoid dining at Church Brewing at all costs. I’m gluten-free (very symptomatic) and, as always, I made sure to speak with the server before ordering. I asked about my options and about the fryer, to which he confidently responded, “It should be illegal not to have a gluten-free dedicated fryer.” Feeling reassured, I ordered a sandwich that he confirmed could be made on gluten-free bread. My sister ordered the same sandwich but with a different side. Like most of us who are gluten-free, I instinctively checked her bun to make sure mine looked different. It did, so I assumed all was well. The server who dropped my meal even set it down saying, “The gluten-free sandwich.” Halfway through my meal, the manager rushed to our table and told us the server had taken the wrong plate; I was given a potato bun and my gluten-free meal was still sitting in the kitchen. Obviously, panic set in. The manager offered an effusive apology and said they would comp my dinner, but by that point, I was embarrassingly already in tears, knowing exactly what was ahead. I went straight to the bathroom to try to make myself sick, even knowing it was pointless. Because I wasn’t at the table, my sister and friend were left to deal with the situation. Both were still charged and one even received an incorrect bill, which is shocking considering the seriousness of their mistake. This was not just an inconvenience? I was visiting from out of province, and three days later I'm home and still sick. Our plans were cancelled, our evening was ruined, and I was incredibly uncomfortable for the rest of my vacation. What bothers me most is how easily this mistake happened. A server should never have so much responsibility without safeguards in place or without a heads up about the possibility of such extreme accidents. (I'm aware of some kitchens who use simple systems like flagged toothpicks in restricted meals to prevent this) While we greatly appreciated the managers honesty, the server was not apologetic and overall, they did not do all that could've been done. None of this should have happened. If you have any dietary restrictions, I strongly recommend avoiding Church Brewing until they put proper procedures in place to ensure this never happens to anyone else :(
This place is AMAZING. They hosted our engagement party and it was PERFECT. Chadd made the whole planning process so easy and Emily deserves awards for her bartending skills, patience and kindness towards us day of. Church Street delivered the most amazing day for us and we couldn't be more grateful for this place. This place has a special place in our hearts forever
The brewery is located in an industrial park, behind some dumpsters. It smells absolutely awful outside. It was a hot day and the brewery had no air conditioning inside. It made the experience almost unbearable. We watched many couples leave.
All of this is unfortunate because the place has the potential to be great. The indoor space is nice, they had live music, the beers were reasonably priced and pretty delicious, and we ordered pizzas that were great. The servers were very accommodating to us and brought us small tabletop fans outside. Unfortunately none of this made up for how uncomfortable it was just to exist in their space.
The combination of the heat, garbage smell and flies was just too much. Eating outside was almost unsanitary. We absolutely will not return.
I always have a great experience here! The staff is warm and friendly and there's always a new beer to try. The sours are my favorite!
Been coming here for years. Never a bad time
One star—and that’s generous.
This place had potential, but wow, did they fumble the bag hard. We walked in. Crickets. Not a soul to greet us, help us, or even acknowledge that we existed. We stood there for five full minutes like idiots, then sat ourselves hoping someone would eventually do their job. A guy finally came out, looked directly at us… and said nothing. Not a “Hi,” not a “Be right with you,” not even a nod. Just walked right by like we were invisible.
Newsflash: If I wanted to be ignored and disrespected, I’d go to my ex’s house.
This was pathetic. You had customers. You had a shot. And you completely blew it.
I don’t care how good your beer might be—if your service makes people feel like a burden just for showing up, you don’t deserve the business. Plenty of breweries out there know how to treat people right. This isn’t one of them.
Do better. Or don’t—your empty taproom speaks for itself.
My recent visit in June 2025 was very disappointing here. I had been here before a couple of years back and while it was basic it was in better shape than it is now.
They keep their dumpsters overfilled and leaking literally at the entrance of the brewery. You must walk by the dumpsters to get to the back lawn. They reeked so bad and the area was disgusting - completely unacceptable.
Inside it was stuffy and smelly as well- no air conditioning?
Outside on the lawn they have built pergolas but the picnic tables are plastic, wobbly, crooked, warped from the sun etc.
The beer is ok. The food is acceptable but I believe it to be pre-cooked and just put together in their kitchen.
Really it’s a shame. Perhaps if at least it was clean I would’ve had a better experience. In my opinion this place is a dump and I would recommend you find another place to spend your money. WolfDen Brewery has a great back yard and a similar set up but it’s always clean, doesn’t smell like dead animals in the dumpster and you don’t have to skip over nasty liquids from dumpsters either. Not worth your time and money.
I regret not taking photos.
Why 2 starts even? Because there is potential. This space can be a wonderful brewery- it’s spacious and they had live music inside so that’s one thing they did ok.

As an avid BA consumer, Been wanting to check this place out for at least a year now. Finally made it there today and was pretty disappointed. Got a flight of five different stouts, all them seemed fairly flat to me. In addition to that the place is uncomfortably hot, me and my friend were sweating from the moment we walked in. Warehouse style brewery, 0 fans, 0 circulation, although they had ceiling fans but they were not even on. We eagerly closed our tab so we could get out of there.
Make a better environment for your guests...turn on the fans, but some industrial fans for $200 to get some circulation going (despite it being 100° out today I was told it's actually usually even hotter in there, wonder what OSHA would say about that). I'm sure your employees would also appreciate a small investment to cool it down a little bit. Will not be going back here.
Great local brewery! They have a great variety and the employees are super friendly.
Church Street has some really tasty beers and hard seltzer. They are active in the community, which is a great thing.
The tap room is relaxed, and the staff is pleasant and fun. Food is tasty and a good value. Menu is heavy on pizza and flat breads. There are a couple of chicken sandwiches and a couple of salads. Lots of good choices in the appetizers/sharables section.
Trivia night is Monday, and Music Bingo on Wednrsdays. They have concerts and early afternoon happy hour as well.
Went during a music bingo Wednesday. Great atmosphere and beer, service was excellent.
We've hosted two private party at Church Street and could not recommend them more! The food and drinks are delicious - guests were all so impressed by the quality of the food! There is great space for a variety of events. Not only that, but the staff is incredibly friendly, accommodating, and easy to work with.
