The catfish was flavorful and fried perfectly. The macaroni was excellent... everything we had was very good. I would go iut of my way to come here again.

I'm mexican decided to give it a try i go in thier a girl with red hair made me feel not welcome she had a bad nasty attitude when I went back pick my food this other waitress was really nice love the food

This was the best soul food I have ever had. Granted I haven’t had many, but this was delicious. The fish was good, the rice was OK, but I mean how much can you really do with white rice. The beans were the absolute best part of the meal I wanna say the greens are the best part however, to me at least they were just too salty. But take that with a grain of salt because I don’t usually eat salt.

First time here I had the oxtails which were great I ate them all and I don’t usually eat all my food from places I also had greens and cabbage what can I say I love greens they both were excellent most definitely will be back next time I’m in Joliet area ready to try other items from the menu 😋😋😋😋corn bread yes good as well I need more food please can’t wait 😜

You can smell the deliciousness before you even come in here! The food is so soso good And reasonably priced. Will absolutely make sure to come here again. And it's such a good vibe in the store. It's such a cute place!!

Everybody was welcoming and the food was delicious!!!

Me and my cousin fell into this restaurant as we were in the Joliet area and we needed to eat. Google can pull up some good finds. The pictures of the catfish drew us in. So glad we stopped in. Beautiful atmosphere, not a large spot but large enough. We immediately noticed the deck of cards on each table, and the stack of board games on the counter. Nice to get a game of spades or Uno in while you wait for your food.

Now to the food, my cousin ordered her fish fried, I got the blackened fish. They didn't disappoint. Well seasoned, and the correct portion. I got the sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes. Had I known the blackened fish came with rice, I would have not gotten the potatoes. My cousin got greenbeans and mashed potatoes. Sent the greenbeans back and got cabbage, unfortunately they were cooked too soft, but that cabbage was nice. Everything well seasoned.

I live in the city but would definitely stop back by the next time I'm in the Joliet area.

I really wanted to like this place, but the truth is I hadn't eaten all day which means I wouldn't have been hard to please. I went in around 7:pm and ordered the oxtails staff was friendly as a gentleman begins to write down my order the lady sitting at the table mentioned that when she called in to order she asked for oxtails and they said that they were all out at that point the gentleman asked the people in the kitchen if they were all out in fact they were so I had to go with the fried chicken wings which I ordered two but for some reason they gave me a four which was double the cost I guess they were in a rush because I can see the slight effort however the wings were not fried all the way through undercooked and I waited at least 20 minutes although the mac and cheese wasn't baked in the oven it was pretty good to be made on stove top 👍🏼 collard greens were as good as collard greens can be considering I love mustard and turnip but nobody wants to wash those lol sweet potatoes were disrespectful to my time and money the potatoes were hard they hadn't even softened up let alone allowed the potato to be saturated with the sugar cinnamon or anything I threw them away after one bite the chicken could have had a little bit more seasoning as well some sazon or just plain old Lawry's and they need to put some holes in the boxes because when you order fried chicken and close it up it makes the breading moist... I see the effort but you need to tighten up the kitchen... If you can't make sweet potatoes just don't make them bottom line you cannot Rush good food I rather wait longer than wait and be pissed off. And the banana pudding fluff was just a lot of fluff not much consistency they did have banana pudding cake but I didn't try it because I expected traditional banana pudding it was not. I will come back to try the oxtails and do an update.

My Home Away From Home

Had dinner her while we tied down for the night on our Intercoastal Waterway trip. The service and food were amazing. Prices were very reasonable. Wish we had one in N Idaho. 😋

Staff is very accommodating, professional, and friendly! Love this place. Sorry, didn’t include a photo, but my taste buds are more important than 1 picture, and if you want some down home cooking (collard greens were fantastic; hint of spice in them too!), you will appreciate this one. Was able to eat off of my items for 2 1/2 days without stuffing myself. That much good is so appreciated in these days and times. So if you really don’t feel like cooking or spending an extravagant price on groceries; just plain want a good meal for a couple of days, this is the place! Smothered pork chops (baked for me but you can have them fried with gravy if you prefer), on a bed of rice, collards, macaroni and cheese , candied yams, and cornbread. Come on ya’ll…come and get it!

This place is small but it's amazing! Service was slightly slow but to me that's expected because it was packed! Definitely worth the wait. Had the fried catfish with fries and Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious. Definitely interested in coming back to try the catfish in the Jerk way and the blackened.

It would be nice to receive what's in the product menu description in your order. So I paid $16.00 for 1 wing and 1 thigh not 2 smothered chicken breast with 2 sides like it says on your menu. OKAY! Funny how these restaurants never under charge you though. They should at least know what their own menu says. The service definitely does not reflect their google ratings. Maybe 3.2 at best.
