There’s something about the basics that tell you how good a place is. All of the amazing flavors are usually spot on. But that pretzel shaped glazed and the sour cream…perfection.

Don’t leave reviews, but today hit different. Been going there for 13 years. Today was the last day. My husband drove 20 min to get in the parking lot only to realize he’d forgotten his wallet. He had our 6 year old with him. I called to ask if I could please pay for our order over the phone (we usually get 6 but was willing to do a full dozen if I needed to). I tried to explain to the woman what I needed and was impatiently told yes, but you can only get an assorted dozen. You see, my son is special needs and will only eat the chocolate square (used to be round). And because of that it’s just what our family now prefers. Now in a panic I said “so I can’t just get chocolate?” ASSORTED DOZEN rudely was told to me before I could even get the sentence out. My mind was trying to process her treatment of me and what was difference if I pay for a dozen assorted or a dozen chocolate? Maybe it would have taken an extra minute to put the chocolate in the box? I started to ask again and was shut down with “assorted dozen” for the last time in which I told her she was rude and hung up. I then had to call my husband back (who was walking into the store, which by the way he said wasn’t busy at all) and tell him she wouldn’t help us. He then had to walk away with our 6 year old crying and trying to understand why he could not get a donut. Think about that- for any kiddo, but to a special kiddo it can be so difficult for them to understand. This isn’t about my kid though, it’s about a family run business that we have supported almost weekly for 13 years unwilling to take my debit card order over the phone because my family wanted chocolate and not assorted.
Original review and update:
Have loved this place for years but their fill amount on fill donuts is much less compared to the past. To me a Boston Crème or Taffy Apple donut that is filled well was the difference maker. Not so much anymore.
Advice to the owners is to up the fill amount back to where it was when you guys filled them by hand.
Updated: they are filling them by hand again and wow what a difference!!! Back to king of the hill for me. Thanks

Great donuts, the owner is a bit crabby all the time. The new owner is a lot better.
The donuts and the oil is old! Ive tried to give them chance after chance and every time me and whoever else eats them are so disappointed. The powdered sugar Angel cream was so hard on the bottom, the French toast were hard and stale (mind you I got 4 of them), the glaze tasted like old oil was used to fry them. These donuts are not fresh everyday like the original owner used to do. Typical of a business that’s doing great, ya gotta always change stuff and go CHEAP, which in the end it won’t be good! Stop changing stuff if it’s working!!!!! People used to LOVE Donut Den, it was hands down theeee best donuts in Will County, now Dunkin has better donuts and that’s bad……real bad!!!
Ps: I didn’t just have these donuts one time and write a review, it was several times, like 4-5 before I just felt I had to. The service is good tho!
