Love love their ice cream. Has a nice little trail you can walk around while you eat your ice cream. Had picnic tables to sit. I love their cherry shake.
If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. My mom and I decided to stop here for the first (and LAST) time because it looked like a small family-owned business, and we actually felt bad since it was so empty. Big mistake.
The moment we walked up, we greeted the old man working, and he completely ignored us and slammed the window shut in our faces. We thought, “Okay, maybe he didn’t hear us?” so we waited. TWO minutes later, he finally opened the window, acting annoyed, and asked what we wanted. We placed our order, nothing crazy, just ice cream. When it came time to pay, we handed him a card for a NINE dollar purchase. And then he had the nerve to ask for an ID.
Excuse me? An ID for a $9 charge? This wasn’t about the card. This was about the way we looked. We were being racially profiled and treated like criminals for no reason. The disrespect was loud and clear.
We came in with good intentions, wanting to support a small business, and instead we got ignored, humiliated, and targeted. If this is how they treat paying customers with suspicion, hostility, and flat-out discrimination — then it’s no wonder the place was empty.
Save yourself the time and energy. Don’t support a business that thinks profiling people is okay. Absolutely disgusting.
and from reading all the reviews they only card blacks and mexicans! absolutely ridiculous!

This place cards the customers to us there own debit cards. The ice cream shop had the worst service I ever seen
We ate our way down Route 66 starting in Chicago and ending in St. Louis. Wife loves malts. She had like four on the trip. She said it was the best malt on the trip. I had a chocolate shake. It was good.
Good ice cream a tradicional place in Joliet
Just got racially profiled by getting asked to show my id. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and I’ve never been carded to buy some ice cream here or anywhere.
I got a turtle. It was really delicious on a hot night. Really nice owner. dish them out. It was great having some ice cream and sitting back and taking it easy. Went to a lot of ice cream joints while I was visiting, and this was my favorite.
You can get pins and magnets in this ice cream store
Figured I would try it for the first time.
Place wasn’t that busy when we went. Gentleman that was working was a bit rude. Ice cream was a bit high.
Will stay going to Walt’s from now in.
Best ice cream shop I have been to

I ordered a strawberry sundae with extra pecan🩷 it was so good
There probably just flat out racist having to id Mexicans and blacks and not id white people the real question is why do you have to ask for a I'd it's ice cream 🤔
Told about this by a local. A little out of the way but worth it. Small ice cream shop with quite an assortment. Walk up and order with a nice gentleman helping us out. I had the turtle sundae and my husband had a banana split. Amazing.
Neat little stop on Route 66. Ice cream was good. It was a busy place.
One of my favorite spots in Joliet there is a playground for kids i just I wish you guys could make the path longer. Great for a quick bike ride or walk also
