I think we are so spoiled at The Keg in Kingston. Honestly, every Keg is so different, and this one was a little worse than going to an Eastside Mario"s. The grease on the bottom of the Calamari plate was heavy because it didn't get shaken from the oil fry basket to the plate. My Calamari was floating. The fries were old fries. They were in the fryer at least 3 times. No potato left in the centre and what I could not determine was if they were actually real potatoes or frozen? I asked for the side Mac n cheese and they gave us the kids Mac n cheese. And then charged the $15 dollars for each kid when I ordered the side Mac n cheese (@$10 dollars each) that should have come on a cast iron pan and crusty top. The Keg in Kingston you have to book weeks in advance, and I thought this Keg, in the heart of Ottawa (Byward Market) would have been so much better. I was absolutely disappointed, and this was a birthday celebration. Save your money. Too pricey for this quality. I told this to the waitress and she said that she'd let the new cook know.

I was at the Byward location a week ago with a friend, this is absolutely our go to for a wonderful night out !!! Our server B was such a sweet young lady , thank you for a lovely evening !!! Our dinner was amazing as usual.

Went out for our anniversary. First time going to the keg. Was told 15-20 mins wait. No issue so went to the bar had a few drinks. Waited nearly 45 mins and still no table to eat at. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy. Ordered our food. Both got steak mashed potatoes salad. The salad and bread was delicious. We ordered our steak medium-well. My husbands steak was literally rare and mine was ok. So we sent his back. Doesn’t come back with the same plate or vegetables. Had fried onions which he didn’t order? Cuts a piece of his steak and it was literally still rare. He was so upset he walked out. I didn’t eat my food because well my husband just walked out and I was upset because he was upset about his food. The manager handed it appropriately and was really nice. The service was great the food was garbage. I will never go back. Cooking meat especially steak to someone’s preference is extremely important. A medium well done steak doesn’t bounce back when you touch it. Completely disappointed in this restaurant

We are frequent customers of the chain, and have dined there in several different cities. So we were surprised by our experience. While visiting family in Ottawa, invited a bunch of them to dinner. The Keg seemed like a safe choice. The staff was super nice and attentive, but the food was not great. The steaks were not cooked like we requested, the salmon was over cooked, and so was the baked potato. Maybe they had an off night, but not it wasn’t even close to quality that we are used to.

We were celebrating our 20th anniversary. Our service was done by Kaylea. Although she was very busy, she was very pleasant and helpful specially when I had to return my steak because it was under cooked to my taste. She took the steak back to the kitchen no problem and came back with a little better cooked steak with a brand new potato and veggies! The shrimps cocktail was very nice. Overall good food and good service. Perhaps the prices are a little higher but eating out these days is more then it used to be. Perfect location, right in the downtown market where is the Rideau mall, shops and restaurants.

Decided to go to Ottawa for dinner instead of going to downtown Montreal where there's NO CARS ALLOWED and no parking Ottawa knows how to treat people coming into the city and also want to add that they offer free parking after 5:30 not like Montreal where they want To charge you until 11:00 Now for the restaurant ? the staff were super friendly and happy to serve you ? We were seated at the bar area and enjoyed some drinks while we waited for our table we didn't wait long at all ? The food was delicious and the service was excellent ? highly recommend the drive to Ottawa Looking forward to returning to the Keg ?

We were in Ottawa to see family & belatedly celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday, which was noted and acknowledged by the patio and inside podium hostesses. Madison was a great server and we truly enjoyed our meals! My husband’s filet was cooked to perfection as was my steak, and as always, the wine, sides and bread were amazing! Our only (minor) disappointment was that my husband’s birthday went unacknowledged at the table. We ordered a cheesecake for dessert anyway and it was also the Best!

A group of us were in town for a 'Men's Retreat Getaway' and we thoroughly enjoyed Ottawa. We wanted a nice dinner meal and thought the menu outside for the Keg looked good. We were a party of four and were seated quickly at a high top bar area. We tried some drinks - they have a nice selection of beer and ordered up our food. I tried the big ribeye - it was cooked perfectly and served with garlic smash potatoes and a side of fresh horseradish. It was excellent. My buddy had a steak that he said was perfect as well. The entire party enjoyed the food greatly. Portions are good and the prices are higher than some other places, but well within the range for the portions and flavors. Overall, service was pretty attentive and good, although not really friendly. It seemed a bit perfunctory with the intent to get you in and out quickly. The overall sound level was high too, making conversation difficult. I really enjoyed the food, but probably wouldn't go there for a date or to have a nice conversation over that excellent food.

Went to the Keg for a birthday treat. Nice atmosphere, great service. I had the blackened chicken for $35.00. The girlfriend had Caesar salad for $12.00. And lobster bisque for $12.00 Our friend had the New York Steak for $56,00. They bring you a small loaf of bread to munch on before the meal comes. I had the 1 oz Caesar drink for $9.00. Our friend had a glass of red wine for $25.00. Everything was very good. The meals are not very big , but are way overpriced. For someone like me on a pension this is a once in a lifetime restaurant. If you are rich and are not too hungry, this is the restaurant for you. Cheers Greg

We had a salad that had so much blue cheese!! Then we had a mushroom with cheese that was delicious!! And we finished with two steaks with mashed cauliflower. The food was delicious!
I stayed at the Andaz Hotel, so I walked across the street and came for dinner at The Keg. The Keg is an excellent restaurant for steaks. I sat at the bar and ordered the shrimp cocktail and the roasted blackened chicken with a baked potato. It was lovely.

I love this place and go every time I’m in the city. There are a range of options. My friend tried the escargot and said they were the best she’s ever had. The steak has healthy options as side orders, such as baked potatoes and vegetables. Perfectly cooked!
