Baba's Famous Steak & Lemonade of Kankakee

my bf and i went in to order our food to go. took a half an hour for our food to be done. the hot dogs were not good, very tough meat and hard to get through. we ordered 10 bbq honey wings…. got plain wings. our fries were cold. and the cherry on top is how sick it made us. stomachs upset almost immediately and throwing up a few hours later. wouldn’t recommend

Ordered a cheese burger, Italian beef, and chicken strips and it took over an hour. Highly do not recommend going here if you want a quick meal. The kitchen staff did not care and management at this establishment is horrible. Everything is way overpriced and mediocre at BEST. I don’t see anything famous about this place besides being famous for making you wait for nothing. We looked at our receipt and everything we ordered was rang up wrong so we had no idea what we were even going to get.

Parking: Woohoo they have parking sport because nobody was there and it took over an hour to make chicken strips, one Italian beef sandwich, one Philly sandwich and a cheese burger.

The staff in the front sucked. Had an attitude the entire time. I waited 30 minutes for a chicken Philly. Food is great but the lady in the front did nothing but sit on the phone.

Came here for lunch and had a great experience. Super friendly staff, huge portions, and delicious. The crispy gym shoe is next level and the fries are perfect. Make sure to get their house hot sauce

This place is weird to say the least. Called two days in a row about this fabled “Crispy Italian Beef” no one knows what I’m talking about when I call in on the first and second day. The second day, they don’t even have Italian beef. What is this place??

May 2023 Edit: after almost a year since my first review I will say babas has gone the other direction. During the last year their prices have went up and down, the quality of the Philly steak varies wildly each time we go (which is very few now). My biggest complaint is that the prices are back to normal but their portions are not right. I used to come here and the steak would be falling out of the sandwich and now I just feel like I'm eating bread and cheese. Everytime I go I notice the meat portion gets smaller and smaller.April 2022 - The very first time I went was 3/5 stars. My biggest complaint was that my Philly steak was dry. The second time I tried it I got a couple of the Italian beef juice on the side that immediately brings it up a star. I've only had the Philly steak and the lemonade and I can see why they say the famous for it. My first issue with the place is that the fries are very bland having to cope with salt packets or my own home seasoning once I get home. My last issue is that the lemonade cups leak all over the place so taking to go leads for a sticky wet mess. Same for the tables inside the store covered with lemon flavored juice everywhere. Well, I do not want to get smaller cups or flat lids if they would not leak this would easily be a five star for me.

Absolute trash. Cashier was friendly, food was garbage. Way over cooked. Took 30 minutes for fries and a chicken sandwich. Didn't get my lemonade made until after my food was out and it was literally just flavored syrup at the bottom of a sugar slushy. Will never return.

They gave me the wrong food, but corrected it right away & the fries were just how I like them. Friendly staff. Clean

Ordered tonight and when we went to pick up they claimed someone else had ordered the same thing (Philly and two burgers) and just picked up our order on accident.. Thought okay, well if two of the same orders were placed they've started the other right? Nope.. couldn't even tell us how long it would be and laughed at the situation.. No apology or apparent concern for the supposed mix up. We were on break so didn't have time to wait an unknown amount of time. Not the first time we've had bad service here but.. this takes the cake. Food was decent and convenient location so we went back but.. after this stunt, probably not!

Really nice staff, really good food! Had the Italian beef, ribeye steak sandwich and a pizza puff and they were all so good. Also ordered the lemonade which they have a ton of flavors of. I got pineapple and my husband got red raspberry. Both were really good. I'd suggest it as a good bite to eat to anyone in the area.

We ordered a crispy philly, a gyro platter, and a chicken salad. It was $47. Fries were undercooked. They didnt give us the tzatziki for the gyro platter and it definitely needed it since it was so dry it could have passed for jerky. The $13 chicken salad was 4 little chunks of chicken, Iceberg, tomato, and cheese and full of water (chicken was definitely premade then refrigerated, served cold. Not fresh).....&as far as i could tell there were no peppers or seasoning on the philly. Huge bummer

Giving 1 stars because they made the food. They didn’t make the order as ordered. I ordered thru Uber eats. I ordered 2 Italian beefs with fries dipped with sweet peppers. The menu gave the option of hot peppers, sweet peppers. I selected sweet peppers. I also asked for it to be dipped. Neither of them had any sweet peppers or dipped at all. And they added hot peppers. Dry as a desert. No juice at all and no sweet peppers at all. Then the manager offered me a lemonade. So sorry but that isn’t going to resolve. Then the attitudes were horrible and then the manager Newfy said he’d replace only one Italian beef and he’d make sure it was dipped, like he was going to do something to my food. This was my first time ordering from this location. Nothing like the ones up north at all!! I don’t recommend. Go to Twins!!!! Apparently I’m not the only one with this same issue. REMEMBER FIRST IMPRESSIONS IS EVERYTHING AND TAKE YOUR TIME AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE ORDER SO YOU CAN DO A GOOD JOB.
