I really wanted to like this place more. The café de olla was excellent—rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. That’s the reason this review isn’t one star.
However, the main reason I came was for green tamales, and that’s where the experience fell apart. I ordered 12 green tamales, which is standard anywhere tamales are taken seriously. What I received were red tamales, not green.
I called the store to clarify, and I was told they use red tomatoes for the sauce. With respect, every tamale maker and tamale eater knows green tamales are made with tomatillos, not red tomatoes. Calling a red sauce “green” is misleading, plain and simple.
This isn’t about preference—it’s about authenticity and honesty. Tamales are cultural food, and details matter. Serving red tamales as green is an insult to customers who know and love tamales.
Great coffee, but the tamales were a major disappointment. I hope the owners read this and take it seriously.

Best tamales 🫔
Just left the bakery without making a purchase because there was barely any bread left. Why have all them workers and the doors open to basically sell nothing?

I love that they have conchas both with or without canela in the bread. With canela are my favorite! The tamales (red pork) used to be my favorite in town but not sure if something subtle changed or I ate them so much that I think that they went to great to good now. Either way, they are still worth a try, if you haven't yet.

I am happy with the tenders and personnel but the food quite the two items that I like the most is milanesa breaded stake which I keep telling to cook a little more when ask as I always respectfully ask I put a picture you judge on your own and as a little tip the tamales are supper greasy which I would like to compare with the place down the street I am super happy with the personal just the two items I hope they don’t get offended just doing hear as a reminder thanks 🙏🏽

The tamales here are the best so far, the price is similar to the area, the 3-milk cake is delicious, not too sweet, plus: they accept card payments.

Great little bakery! The staff is really nice and they accept different kinds of payments.
Overpriced mediocre pastries. Definitely better bakeries in the Cicero area
They have the best green tamales ♡
