My fiancee and I had a one night reservation we had to cancel due to an emergency family matter. I understand it was not within the 24 hour period (emergencies are not planned) but when we spoke to the manager about getting some sort of credit they were extremely dismissive and on a high horse. Over $600 handed over with not even a “we’re so sorry to hear that”.You may have been ranked in some travel + leisure poll, but you are just north of downtown chicago with not only way better (legit) hotels but professional service as well, so don’t fool yourself. The Waldorf is even more accommodating. Would not recommend based on price compared to other much better establishments and service.

Great service at the restaurant. Fantastic drinks and very accommodating staff. Try their specialty drinks, come for brunch, or enjoy their High-Tea time! 5-stars.

The 100+ year history of this place is beautifully displayed in all its glory throughout the back hallways on the first floor. Don't miss these thoughtful framed articles, awards, vintage architectural sketches, tabloid clippings about celebrity hotel guests of the past, vintage bird prints, and more.I spent at least 30 minutes alone in the hallway reading dozens of news archives explaining how the Deer Path Inn began and transformed over time into what it is today – and then got to experience it in all its Clue Mansion vibe glory.Nearby activities: Adorable restaurants, shops, and bars located right outside the front door of the hotel. I stayed here recently on a trip to visit my son who is in the Navy. There were so many things that went wrong at this hotel. The stay started off fine. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the bellhop, Drew, who brought my bags up to the room. I was happy to tip him for this service. Check in went fine as well. I was very tired due to a flight from the West Coast. I ordered room service and was happy with the food and the delivery and was also very happy to tip for this service. My room was also pleasant. It all started to go bad the following day, however. I was told that complimentary pastries and tea would be served in the Hearth room in the am. That sounded great to me as I had eaten a late dinner and knew I would not want much for breakfast. I arrived in the Hearth room @ 9am. There were no pastries, only tea. I went to the front desk to inquire about the pastries and was told that there were pastries in the room and that I should go check again. So, I walked back to the Hearth room to double check and, as I already well knew, there were no pastries. So, I walked back to the front desk to let them know that indeed there were no pastries, lol. At that point, someone was dispatched to bring more pastries. I had originally been told that pastries would be available until 10am so there was still an hour where I assumed other guests might also come down for tea and pastries so imagine my surprise when literally someone showed up offering me one of two muffins that they were holding in their hands. It was just very odd. Normally, if a hotel is going to offer this hospitality then they make sure the offerings are replenished and certainly are not expecting guests to walk back and forth asking for them. Perhaps I should have lowered my expectations because things just kept getting worse. I encountered two hostesses at the restaurant and both were poorly trained. Neither knew how to properly interact with guests. The icing on the cake, however, was when the gentleman who apparently is in charge of food and beverages took it upon himself to interrupt myself and my son (who, by the way, was dressed in military uniform) and inform us that we were not allowed to open the shears at the window we were sitting next to in the Hearth Room because we were wrinkling them. Without pause, this person reaches across our tea setting and pulls the shears closed. As I began to protest, he went over to a different window and pulled those shears open and proclaimed that if we wanted open shears that would have to do then he pranced out of the room. I was absolutely flabbergasted. We had the shears open for a reason. It is very dark in that room. I had sat by the same exact window just the day before reading my book for hours with the shears pulled open and it was not a problem. Who was this idiot?! Not only did he disrespect me, he disrespected my son who is serving this country! I have stayed at many luxury hotels and resorts around the world and I have NEVER been treated as rudely as I was treated at this hotel. There were a few staff members that did a wonderful job. The front desk staff and I spoke to at least 3 or 4 of them were always very courteous. The guys at the front door bringing in luggage and opening doors are also very polite but unfortunately the few poorly trained staff who are walking around like they own the place ruin the whole vibe. Please retrain these people or turn them loose. Also, please be mindful when you have service members at your hotel. Remember to thank them for their service and show respect. It's a very easy way to show gratitude for their sacrifice and service.

Last night, I had one of the best meals I have ever had... ( I. Am 74 and eaten all over the world) we ordered Brussel Sprouts first as the appetizer, best I have ever had, sautéed perfectly. I had Dover Sole as my main course, again, excellent. And finally, the Triffle as dessert ( 4 of us shared the appetizer and dessert). Generous craft cocktails, amazing service. One of the best "high end" restaurants... in the area!!!

I worked in the kitchen here and I have to say... I have worked in a lot of commercial kitchens so I am very familiar with the good and bad. Unfortunately usually I end up never eating food out of where I have worked BUT Deerpath Inn is the exception. They are extremely clean and careful from start to finish. Their food literally looks magazine ready, every single dish. Yes it is pretty pricey but if you want your money's worth and wanna treat yourself, I recommend going here for a meal. Fabulous! They also have a sushi specialist who makes amazing fresh dishes!

What stood out? The fact that they wouldn't put the sound up on the TV during the Super Bowl. Why call yourself a pub then? Disappointing.

Although I haven't stayed at the hotel, I visit both The English Room and The Bar with some frequency. The staff at The English Room is always friendly and committed to excellent service. The Bar staff, headed by Fahad, is also top notch. Food is routinely delicious and prices are reasonable. We often have breakfast and brunch in The English Room and dinners at The Bar. Truly enjoyable regardless of which restaurant we visit. Thank you.

As you approach this beautiful, historic, charming Inn you're instantly transporting into a fairytale past. I've been here a few times, either to provide a makeup service for a gorgeous wedding, or to share a drink and food with friends. Either way, you will not be disappointed. You can see the romance in the wood carvings, be swept away with mouth watering food, and sleep on a cloud. This is by far one of my favorite local spots to escape! The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Make sure you grab one of their homemade chocolate chip cookies on your way out!Food & drinks: Fantastic menu! Drinks are great, a good variety on the menu, and fresh ingredients. They are always busy so it's best to make reservations or you can take a shot at sitting at the bar.
