I went a week ago on my 3rd trip from Kenosha ONLY to get a delicious breakfast BUT the woman who was on front “Renata” I still have the ticket of my purchase is rude and nothing friendly, is my 3rd time going over there and her actitud is the worst like she’s not happy there (sadly because they should be nice and friendly with everyone), I went over there because a friend recommended me and she also advice me about same woman there and grumpy mood. I hope the owner get someone else with a nice customer experience.

Beautiful old traditional European cafe which brings you into the 60’ vibe. The rum ball I’m having is so tasty and perfect in size. This place reminds me Lutz Cafe on Montrose in Chicago but their sweets (two small chocolate bites + rum ball is much more tasty and simply delicious!) Atmosphere is the „feel like home” kind and place has 5 tables. They don’t use plastic utensils which is a huge plus. If you are in Lake Forest and near train station go and experience it! Don’t miss it! Highly recommended!

Been a customer for decades and it's tough. It's the only bakery in town. It's pretty good, not the best, and it comes with a high price tag for what you're getting. (Still miss the sugar twist donuts from Lake Forest Bakery before Gerhard's took over the space...but I digress.) There are a few items (smiley cookies, apple tarts, certain holiday cookies/specials, etc.) that my family enjoy, so we've generally been willing to deal with the high prices and the occasional unpleasant encounter with the owner...until recently. It's become unbearable. Mary is loud and obnoxious. The list of offenses is too long to post here, but a few worth mentioning....she has seemingly polite conversations with customers placing phone orders then hangs up, rolls her eyes, and complains about the calls. She berates her staff in front of customers. She talks poorly about her staff to customers *in front of her staff*, as if they're not there (e.g., "she has trouble with English", "it's so hard to find decent help", etc.). She's unfriendly with small children. She calls out customers publicly for things that could be handled more discreetly (e.g., don't touch this, don't sit there, don't let your child do this, etc.). There is a way to handle these things without causing a scene and humiliating people in front of other patrons. Don't be fooled by the gregarious facade; if you visit often enough you'll encounter all of the situations I've outlined here. She has extremely high turnover with front counter staff for a reason. Made me realize I'd rather support businesses who treat their staff and customers better (publicly and when no one is watching). Bent Fork in Highwood is a better way to direct your hard-earned consumer dollars.

Delicious pastries! I've had many different pastries from here and they've all been really good. My favorite is the almond croissant Do get more than one pastry here! You won't be disappointed!

Absolutely gorgeous cake....and it's all edible. Exceeded all expectations when I ordered it.

Here's what you need to know: It's not a good value and a bit overpriced but the flavors were enjoyable but didn't blow me away ($50 for a small cake that fed 4 nicely for dessert). Swiss (not Belgian) chocolate based confectionery that was beautiful and well styled elegant touch.I would happily visit the bakery if I'm in the neighborhood but it did not rise to the level of a destination place for me given the pricing. I'm always happy to invest in local businesses so would recommend it. I would be curious to try their chocolates and truffles which looked very tempting.

We LOVED it because it was crunchy creamy and super delicious! It had the perfect mixture of flavors from creamy fruit to crunchy meringue! Expensive, average desserts. Nothing to brag about, at least not for me. I’ve been coming a few times and the only pastry I have really enjoyed is the raspberry marmalade tart. I’ll give it 3 stars because the moment I walk in, the owner’s treat is always nice and welcoming.
