Always an experience! Second time at Le Colonial, and it was perfect. We were celebrating a birthday, and everyone loved it. The food is fantastic, and unexpected. We even had a 15 month old with us and staff was so accommodating. Bartender, Carlos terrific too; cocktails truly a work of art. Cant wait to return next year.

Beautiful place, new restaurant. Not impressed with my food. For the price should be better, was very dry and very few pieces of chicken in the chicken stirred fry. I will visit again and give it another try just because it's decorated beautifully and it is better than the one down town.

We were seated three inches from the next table. For an expensive restaurant it was ridiculous. There was another room where the tables were all empty but we were packed in like sardines. The appetizers were delicious. My main course I requested be NOT spicey. The waiter wrote it down and the dish was way too spicy to eat. They told me the sauce was spicy! It didn't matter that they took out the jalapeños if the sauce made it spicy. They did offer to make me something else but it was late and I didn't want to wait. They should have taken it off the bill. I won't be back anytime soon.

We've been to the downtown location before so it's nice to have another option ow in Lake Forest. We received outstanding food and great service. The red snapper prepared table side was absolutely delicious. One downside is that tables were very close together so it was a little awkward to have a conversation as I was only 16” from the guest at the next table. Otherwise all was good.

Beautiful spot and the food was incredible—we'll definitely be back. We had a bit of a rocky start with seating and felt a little rushed at first, but everything smoothed out and we still had a nice time celebrating. Looking forward to a return visit under the canopy next time!

The flavors are unusual. Generally the food was good and service excellent. It is, however, very expensive.

I have dined here a number of times and have generally had a good experience. I took a friend here for her birthday and we ate outside on the patio. It started to rain and when it turned into a storm with high winds those of us under the covered area escaped to the inside. No one from the restaurant was to be found to assist us with transitioning to the inside. One group was able to convince the waiter that we should be able to eat in the unused private dining area. They invited us to join them at the table which we did. A hostess brought us our food from outside and served it to us..it was swimming in rain water! We got a new order of food and were then told we needed to leave the room by 9:00 because another party was coming in. So we moved once again to the bar area to have dessert. I walked past the room shortly before 10:00 and the room was empty and cleaned up so the group either ate quickly or didn't show. Very disappointed with the lack of preparedness, service and response from this restaurant to help those of us dining outside and taking shelter from the storm. While they can't control the weather, they can control their response and service. This was a crazy and expensive night out .

First time at Le Colonial for our anniversary. We were totally impressed with everything this restaurant offes. The food selection and prep was outstanding. Presentation was elegant and the service/waiter timed everything perfectly. Truly a unique experience that I recommend to anyone looking for a new adventure.

As always the experience was first class from service to food! You always expect to pay a little extra but always worth it!

A beautiful restaurant but told upon making the reservation that we were celebrating two birthdays, and they never even said anything about it except at check in--waiter did nothing. Did not even ask if I wanted dessert. Disappointing.

I mentioned this to the restaurant as we hurried out and in a follow-up email but never heard anything, so wanted to post our experience related to the kitchen accurately checking for allergens if of benefit to any other families or individuals.

Two of our children have an egg allergy. When they ingest egg, it typically causes irritation around the lips, hives, and then vomiting within about 20 minutes.

We specifically asked our server to confirm with the kitchen whether the ice cream contained any egg, including egg yolk. We were told it did not, so we ordered a scoop of chocolate ice cream for each of our children.

Unfortunately, within five minutes, one of them started complaining that his lips hurt. We left immediately, knowing that vomiting was imminent, skipping the rest of the desserts we had ordered. Within 10–15 minutes of leaving, both egg-allergic children vomited in the car. One of them had only eaten the ice cream at the restaurant (after having just cereal earlier that day), so we strongly suspect the ice cream contained egg.

I would really urge the kitchen to double-check ingredient lists, cross contamination potential, and allergen information to prevent this from happening to another family. It was an upsetting experience for our children, with the effects lasting throughout the afternoon. For us as parents, it was distressing and disappointing to have what was meant to be a celebratory early Mother’s Day meal end in this way — especially with the uncertainty of how severe the reaction might become. In this case, it was limited to skin irritation and vomiting, but still had to deal with a sick car ride home, cleaning up afterward, and the cost of food we couldn’t finish.

This is our favorite suburban restaurant! We had such an enjoyable dining experience celebrating our 25th anniversary last evening.

It’s the best cuisine I’ve been to in a while!
