Awesome spot with good drinks but the food is not good at all. Even the charcuterie felt like supermarket deli meat. The piccata should NOT be eaten by an Italian. You'd expect more from even the cottage pie.

Having first enjoyed the Deerpath Inn in 1984, I have been very impressed with the ongoing upgrades all the while maintaining it's original atmosphere and elegance. I have never been disappointed when dining in any of the rooms, especially the new English Room.

My friends and I went to the Deerpath Inn for afternoon tea. It was wonderful! Everything we could have hoped. Delicious food. Friendly service. Great tea assortment. I’ve been to many teas in my time and this is on par with the best.

From the moment you step into The English Room, you’re transported into an atmosphere of elegance and warmth. The dim lighting, tasteful décor, and carefully curated music set the perfect mood, whether you’re here for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or a night out with friends.

Now, let’s talk about the food—every dish is a masterpiece. The flavors are well-balanced, the ingredients fresh, and the presentation is stunning. From the appetizers to the desserts, each bite is an experience in itself.

What truly elevates the dining experience here is the impeccable service. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always ready with a great recommendation. They ensure every guest feels special, making the meal even more memorable.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that checks all the boxes—ambience, phenomenal food, and top-notch service— The English Room is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Made dinner reservations here for 630 on 4/8. Service was very good from the host to the server, very attentive.
The food had a few issues though. I ordered the ribeye (medium rare). There was no sear/char/browning/crust on the steak. The color was light to medium brown. I expect a nice dark brown crust on a $75 steak. The flavor, seasoning, and sauce was nice. It would have tasted much better with that dark brown sear on it. My wife ordered the mushroom risotto. It had a good amount of morel mushrooms in there which was nice to see. The problem was most of them had a gritty (sand like) texture to them so I am thinking they were not cleaned very well. The flavor and texture of the dish in general was middling.
I would probably come back, but not too soon I think.

The food and staff here are exceptional. You’re treated so well by their attentive staff. I am still dreaming of their ahi tuna nachos! The price is fair for the quality and the service.

The restaurant has a classy to posh feel which is kind of nice for a change of pace. We went there for lunch and enjoyed the burger and chicken club sandwich. As you would expect, the service is the tops.

Excellent location for tea service in the Chicagoland area! This was our first time stopping in and we felt warmly welcomed by everyone we encountered. Their tea service includes one of the best scones we've had to start, accompanied by delicious spreads, and a decadent assortment of pastries and desserts.
