We needed a birthday cake last minute and when I say last minute I mean 1hr prior to the party, and Calumet Bakery saved the day. The cake was beautiful and delicious! I know this situation isn't ideal and wouldn't always work out but just showing appreciation for how you all pulled this together for us.

I haven't been here in nearly a year. I visited on Christmas eve of all days. It was chaotic, but the line was moving. I did notice that there was some tension among the employees. That, I can ignore. I cannot ignore the taste of the products. I ordered a slice of cheesecake and a slice of German chocolate cake. The cheesecake was not like it used to be. Very plain and lacking in flavor. It needs a Graham cracker crust or something. The cake was inedible! It tasted as if it were frozen, then thawed. So nasty! I was amazed because there was a time when I purchased it weekly.
Certainly the best bakery in the region. Their famous nut rolls, moist and delicious, unique and wonderful cookies (great for gifts), fabulous wedding cake designs and donuts, donuts donuts! The Christmas holiday brings yule log cakes and Christmas cookies, especially the almond crescents. Excellent!!

I LOVED my cake!!! It was soooo good! The icing wasn’t good but i expected nothing more for black icing🤷🏽♀️ I wouldn’t even pin that on the bakery. I had a Vanilla cake w strawberries on the inside. But, there’s a reason i can only give them two stars.
There was a really nice older lady helping me. She was very polite!! When she opened the cake, the lady upfront (who i assumed took the order or was just familiar w my specific purchase) said there was supposed to be a heart on it and that the lady who was helping me needed to take it to the back and tell whoever to put the heart on there. She was SO NASTY towards this lady!! This lady looks like she was older than the cashier and old enough to be my grandmother! The lady helping me politely walked to the back and came back w my heart! I felt so bad, i didn’t even want to pay them. Because it was never that serious to treat her like that.
Everybody knows Calumet Bakery is one of, if not the best bakery on the south side! But to come here for my first time and see someone of my skin color, who looks like she could be my grandmother rubbed me bad and def left a bad taste in my mouth. 🙂↔️ They need respect lessons and team bonding bc that wasn’t cute and alone made me not wanna come back…
