My family and friends really enjoy the cafe for coffee and breakfast!
First stopped into the cafe to get drinks and tickets and the lady working today was absolutely wonderful. You could tell she enjoys her job and had a passion for it and the area. Then we did the boat tour everyone did a wonderful job. It was a little warm this afternoon but totally worth it.
if you want a quiet quaint place to eat delicious food Lock 16 is the perfect place .

Lock 16 Café’ and I&M Canal Visitor Center is a warm and inviting spot housed in a large old brick building, part of a canal complex that includes a museum, gift shop, book shop, and card shop. The café offers a variety of delicious homemade foods, including a fabulous quiche and a good breakfast sandwich with homemade biscuits. Its large selection of sandwiches and salads can also be requested as wraps, with favorites like the three cheese panini and a side salad praised for their flavor and freshness. The sourdough panini features a delicious fruit spread under melted cheese, while the salad includes tiny, tender tomatoes, shaved carrots, crisp cucumber cubes, seasoned croutons, and fresh greens—considered one of the best salads in years. The café also serves multiple cold brewed teas, including house black tea and unsweetened ginger peach black tea, with prompt refills. Meals are reasonably priced, often including a side salad, chips, or a dill pickle. The staff is friendly, attentive without being obtrusive, and the service is quick. The café’s cozy atmosphere features round tables with canal boat silhouettes, larger tables, and built-in bench seating along large front windows. Visitors frequently enjoy the café before or after canal boat rides or exploring downtown La Salle. Overall, Lock 16 Café’ offers a delightful experience with excellent food, friendly service, and a charming setting, making it a highly recommended stop for visitors exploring the area.
