Latte and chocolate croisant was great! But I bought brioche bread that had a very strong taste of baking soda making it very inedible. For the $9+ loaf of bread I expected something much better. Hence my 3 atar review. 5 stars for latte and chocolate croisant, but brioche bread is 0 stars...

We tried this place for the first time. We needed a sourdough baguette. We also picked up pastries and drinks there. Everything was very good. The almond croissant was delicious.

Best Bakery ever. Their products are delicious and made with care and a lot of know-how. They use locally sourced wonderful flour (I use the same at home). Staff is wonderful as well. I visit them from out of state on a regular basis because they are better than anything I have found anywhere else.Even though fresh is the best, I can also freeze a loaf and it is still great after being defrosted.Their croissants are out of this world.
Nine out of 10 reviews, I write are usually negative, which is very disappointing, but this place is gorgeous, food is great, and the coffee was amazing.

I love the chocolate croissants (needs more chocolate though) and my daughter devoured the brownie. She liked that it was less sweet than a typical brownie. I usually get the blonde sourdough, but on occasion I get one where the crust is just too tough to chew and it ends up going in recipes. At the Evanston location I tried a cardamom latte and a blueberry scone. Latte was alright, but the scone was hard and dry and not able to be swallowed properly. I think the key is to go to the bakery as early as you can when things are still fresh, as items waiting to be sold are left in the open air on display.

First visit. Sunday morning at opening. I was excited to finally remember to stop in… love fresh, toasted, buttered bread. I decided on the Country Blonde loaf. They offered to slice, which I accepted. Also ordered a couple of scones and a couple of croissant varieties. Prices are as expected, when compared to ‘higher quality’ bakeries. The bread was fantastic, I’ll be back to try other varieties. The pastries were not quite on par with my favorites. They also offer coffee drinks and have various flours for those who wish to bake at home.
Such well crafted pastries and breads. You can taste the quality and the staff is also helpful in answering questions. The shortbread cookies around Valentine's day are something I look forward to!

Small shop that is a satellite of the main bakery in Evanston. The breads are fresh and rustic I especially like the seeded
