They were great when they were open, but shut down. Google Maps needs to change the status.

What a gem. La Piñata will be a regular stop when I get bagels next door. I tried these 3 breads. They are so so good and I paid around $5. I can’t wait to try more!

I went for some pan dulce and ended up with warm, tasty empanadas as well. The server was cheerful and friendly. Absolutely worth a second and third visit!

UPDATE: The owner's response is a collection of fabrications trying to save face. As with every bad review given about his bakery on Yelp and Google, he goes into longwinded explanations of why the client is wrong. "Feedback is the breakfast of champions". Use the feedback to improve!

We were very excited to go to this bakery. I had just bought the book Dia de los Muertos for my youngest child and we learnt all about the holiday. I research where I can buy the sweet bread from and came across the bakery. We phoned to ask if they have any and they said they did and we made the near hour drive to the bakery.

Despite confirming they have, and us saying we are on the way and refusing to set us some aside even with payment in advance, there were none left when we got there. They directed us to a huge bread that cost much more and told us they have that instead after our hour long drive with 3 excited kids.

We asked the girls in the front when they will be making more and what time the breads come out and they had no idea. We asked if there is someone to ask and they said one second. They went to the back and when they came out they said the baker refuses to come out. So weird.

We decided not to let that get to us. Despite the bakery looking very run down, and the whole atmosphere being very damp we decided to still try expose the kids to some new things. The kids excitingly took some churros, but there was no place to eat it. The said over the phone that there was a place inside to eat, but actually there was not. We ordered additional pastries and the kids ate.

When the kids were down we asked if there were any napkins, we did not see any around. They said they don't usually have and then my son asked if he can wash his hands and they said they have bathrooms but do not allow anyone to use it. My son innocently asked to wash his hands at the sink behind the counter and the girl said no. We then noticed this huge sign saying "no washing hands for customers". I started scanning around and noticed "no refunds at the till" and other signs up.

We left the bakery with the worst feeling. The kids asked many questions about the places behavior and why they were so not nice. What can I say? Kids say it best.

In short, do not recommend!

Tastiest concha! Always perfectly soft and never dry. The pistachio iced latte is a favorite of mine too.

The food first off WAS delicious. We were planning for a wedding in Chicago, and we really wanted a flancocho (aka chocoflan) for our wedding. My fiance found this cute bakery, and since we live in Urbana-Champaign, we drove the 2 and a half hours to do some cake tasting. He had previously gotten a quote for about $400 to get the cake. We got in there, and the food was absolutely delicious and we were really ready to go ahead with everything, and so we talked to the girl at the front (who was super nice).
This is where we had issues. The girl at the front gave us a wildly more expensive number ($100+) from an apparent menu that they had. The menu also didn't make any sense. It would have been cheaper to buy 100 individually packaged pieces of flancocho from the glass in the store than to buy a sheet for our wedding.
When we were asking her about this price difference, she had to keep going into the back room to ask the person who was in charge all of these questions about the pricing. The poor girl must have run back and forth about 3-4 times.
We really would have appreciated the owner or whoever we were really communicating with to just come out and have a conversation with us, especially since we had already reserved that time to do the tasting (and had paid a non-refundable $30) and they should have been expecting us/ready for us.
Even after the seemingly senseless increase in price, we did really love the food so we wanted to keep trying to make it work, but the person in the back didn't really seem up for any sort of conversation. My husband tried to haggle but he would not budge whatsoever on the price increase, and so we had to leave empty-handed which was disappointing considering we had driven 2 and a half hours.
If you're considering this place for a wedding, I would suggest not going too out of your way for it.

Probably the best flan and mocha Tres leches cakes I've ever had! Brought one of each for birthdays and my team loved them! Will be my go to bakery 😋

This looked nothing like the photos that were provided. We didn’t ask for the hearts that was put on this cake. The frosting wasn’t even smoothed over nicely. This was an absolute waste of 180$

Stopped by here to grab some coffee to go. We were told it would take 15 minutes and ended up waiting for over 30 minutes. We had an event with a time deadline. There was no need to lie to gain our business, we could have easily gone to another place to get our coffee jugs. We are still waiting….
