Service was great, seated promptly, waitress very sweet. My patty melt was delicious. The french fries were the worst I've ever had. They were warm, not at all crispy. I asked for hot crispy fries when I ordered them. They remade when I asked, but it took a long time to get them, and by then I had long finished my burger. The hot crispy fries were much better. Won't go back. The expectation is to have both the burger and fries taste good.

It was fun to visit this historic landmark on our Route 66 travels. The ambiance was very nice, the way they have it set up (with white [plastic] tablecloths, cloth napkins, silverware laid out on either side of the plate including salad forks, waitstaff dressed formally) makes it feel like a fancy restaurant rather than a diner. The salad bar was good with a nice variety. We both ordered the breaded tenderloin sandwich and fries. The fries were ordinary frozen crinkle fries and the tenderloin was battered rather than breaded. We are from central Illinois so are spoiled with the great tenderloins available in our area. Sadly, this one didn't compare. They looked fabulous but mine was soggy and the meat was gristly and lacked flavor. The dessert case looked fabulous and I wish we'd had time to try something from it. Our waitress was nice and prices are very reasonable though, so I'd visit again and just try something different.

Was in the Springfield, IL area for work events—on my drive back to St. Louis, I stopped by as I’d heard great things about this historic establishment. Came right before closing so got homemade desserts to-go. The lemon blueberry layered cake & the chocolate cream pie were absolutely delightful! There were at least 9 other desserts to choose from so I’ll definitely return to try more as well as savory entrees. The staff were super friendly and accommodating :)

Food was okay. The history of the place got us in there. Locals eat here it seems. Server did a nice job.

I was conflicted between two choices and asked our waitress for a recommendation. She was spot on and the food was delicious. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Prices were very reasonable for the quantity and quality of food served. If I lived in the area, this would be a regular stop.
