My wife and I were driving through the area and stopped here on a recommendation. We were glad we did as the food was very good and service was excellent! The desserts looked wonderful but we were too full from the main course. The small soup and salad bar that were included was a nice addition as well. Would definitely stop here again!!

We were enjoying some Illinois Route 66 and chose to have dinner here. It's a step back in time and floods your mind with years gone by. We actually set up at the low top bar area, and the kids loved it. The staff is absolutely wonderful (obviously proud of their establishment) knowledgeable of their menu, and do a nice job engaging customers. Menu had lots of variety and included a trip to a nice salad bar. This is a must stop while doing Route 66!

Our favorite restaurant in central Il. Right off of 55. Home made soups are delicious. Very good salad bar. Food is just like mom use to make including pies and cakes. Best staff ever. There are as many as 8 severs. Always pleasant, cheerful, and they go the extra mile in serving you. Old world charm. Oldest cafe on Route 66. There is a Route 66 museum right across the street. We drive 40 miles just to eat there.

This place seems to be going down hill. We stop here occasionally, when traveling thru. The quality of food has went down hill & being out of items also, still have decent deserts. The greeting waitress super friendly & polite, great person. Seems to be a lot of conflict between waitress's, & not likening their job it shows and service has gotten slow. Hope things turn around for the better.

I really wanted to rate this higher but the menu we were presented with didn’t seem to be up to date. My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp and I ordered the catfish fillets. The waitress took the order and then returned a few minutes later to tell us the shrimp were no longer on the menu. My husband then selected the coconut shrimp. A few minutes later the waitress returned again and said the catfish fillet was also off the menu but I could have a whole catfish instead. I decided to order half a fried chicken listed a southern specialty. Prior to the main course you can help yourself to soup and salad which I have to say were superb and these are included in the price of your meal. When our main course arrived my husband was happy with his shrimp although the accompanying sauce was slightly odd, really sweet? My chicken was huge in terms of quantity but just literally deep friend chicken. No southern flavouring at all. The pis is more a restaurant than a cafe, really well laid out with cotton tablecloths etc and the staff all seemed to be really friendly. I just felt the problems with the menu and resulting main courses let it down

Our first Route 66 'original' restaurant stop on our trip from Chicago to Santa Monica. Although surrounded by newer buildings/developments, the Ariston has retained all its charm and has been sensitively restored. The food was great, the service outstanding (thank you, Cyndi), and the desserts so tempting that we took one each with us. A must-visit destination on any Route 66 itinerary.

This was a cute Route 66 restaurant across from the Route 66 Museum. Our waitress was Erial and she was wonderful. The personality of the restaurant and the waitresses made our dinner fun. We had the Thursday special and it was great. We will definately be back when we are in the area.

Disgusting!! Italian beef hoggie special was so full of water it made hoagie too soggy and not edible plus it ruined the french fries! The fried tilapia special was a joke- totally wrong batter for fish and they should have served it grilled! They mislead you with “ homemade fries” They are NOT homemade! They come frozen then restaurant fries them in CHEAP OIL thus PRODUCING EXTREMELY GREASY UN- EDIBLE CHIPS. They do not ASK HOW EVERYTHING WAS - CAUSE THEY ALREADY KNOW IT IS CRAP FOOD! - When you tell them the issues and they see wet fries, greasy chips and soggy bun they agree and just say “sorry!” - No, how about a free dessert? or let us adjust your bill! We have eaten here many time over 30 yrs and now i wonder if have new management that only care about profit- never again!
