I went during the bridge lighting ceremony. The place was packed. Food was good , except the fries (I wasn't a fan but you might be. Live music was playing and all were having a good time. Service got 4 stars because they were a bit slow. I know they were packed but the owner needs to schedule more people to work that day.

Parking: Tight quarters.

Kid-friendliness: Somewhat .. it is a tavern After all.

Food was just ok for the price for all 3 of us but the service and atmosphere was great. Parking can fill up on busy fri/sat nights but again its worth a stop. I might try again but great food is not hard to find in the Northwest Suburbs. If they step up the kitchen food this place would rock !
It was OK, not bad, but nothing to write home about. The 'Oldest Restaurant in Illinois' claim is a nice, charming magnet for patrons. They also advertise their burgers and source (Dorflers Meats), so I tried one. My 'medium' ordered burger came well-done and dry, so I couldn't really appreciate the claimed superior source of their meat compared to the average patty... too bad. Rueben sandwich was same, just OK, hardly any coleslaw (sprinkles), and slightly...
