I have ordered a few things from Eddy's and every time I was greeted with a hot bagged and ready to go meal, and a friendly smile. Food is a 9.5/10, Service is an 11! The kind lady who runs it up front is fantastic.

We had breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy. Underwhelmed. Little floury tasting biscuits and gravy was just ok. My husband had a Mexican breakfast burrito and said flavor was fine.

I'd really like to give this restaurant a positive review because the people seemed genuinely nice, but.... The radio coming from the kitchen was so loud, almost to the point of being obnoxious. The waitress completely omitted bringing the sides that were supposed to come with the meals, and she never offered to refill our drinks even though we were the only patrons there. The presentation of the food was lovely, pretty plates, mint and berry garnishes, it was just beautiful. The nice presentation of the blueberry stuffed French toast, however, didn't make up for the fact that it tasted like wet paper. I've never had such flavorless French toast. I did like the unique addition of avocado to the bacon cheeseburger, which the waitress/ owner said was named the "baconcado" by her son. Really nice, if forgetful lady, but the food wasn't worth a second visit.

We have been to Eddy's a few times, once for Mother's Day, Father's Day and for giggles. The food is thee BEST. I swear I'll try every plate on the menu before I leave this earth. Everyone couldn't be any kinder and more pleasant. I dried my 3 roses they gave me on mother's day and they will always stay on my living room side table. For Father's day Mrs Eddy carried her toddler on her back as she swept up and Mr Eddy cooked in the kitchen. If that ain't something and Mackinaw doesn't start a church go-fund-me babysitting club for this amazing family I'll hang my head in shame. The atmosphere is beyond friendly, the food fabulous, the restaurant is so down to earth and spotless. Visit every chance you get, cause I swear you'll feel like life is good again.

Was out on Memorial day and passed through Mackinaw, Illinois on our way to other locations. It was mid day when we passed through on our way home.We have been to another restaurant in Mackinaw several times but this day we passed by Eddys. The sign said OPEN on the front of a very nice, clean, nicely painted restaurant. It looked inviting, smaller building, low roof line, single door and a couple windows facing the street. Yes, our kinda place.I was reading the daily special board and one offering made me stop. The board listed "Monkey In The Jungle" as one of the specials. I started to inquire "what the heck is that" when the most gracious hostess ever, Iris, gave me a I'll tell you if you will just sit down look.We were seated and drinks were quickly served by Iris. She then began, "it is sliced banana with peanut butter and marshmallow drizzle. Wait, what?? That sounds amazing! Since we were there for lunch we passed on the "jungle" for today. Another customer soon ordered the jungle dish and Iris got our attention so we could see it as she left the kitchen and headed to the waiting customer. OH Lordy did it look great! Definitely enough for two either as treat or desert. The menu at Eddys is plentiful with all the most popular American dishes. Breakfast all day of course. Many, many lunch choices and on Friday and Saturday night there are full dinners available. Iris informed us that Eddy makes a new special dish every couple weeks and then serves them for very limited time. Ok Iris, we will watch the restaurant FB page for the latest offerings.I had a Ruben sandwich. PERFECT!. The bread was toasted on the grill to perfection. I hate bread oversaturated with butter but Eddy nailed this one. Was not soggy with ooze and did not send me running for the sink to degrease myself. Sauerkraut was perfectly sour. Loved it. Cheese was melted to a point that it was like a beautiful soft ripened Brie. Score 3 Eddy.Corned beef, yep, thick sliced, not shaved. Plenty of beef to let you know you are not going away hungry. Fabulous Eddy.Since I had ordered the lunch meal my platinum quality Ruben came with some golden brown, wavy cut fries that were right on par with the sandwich. Now, I am NOT a "cream of anything" guy but Iris offered a creamed spinach soup as my last side dish. I gotta admit, she can sell ya anything, she is that good at what she does and that honest.. As for the soup..... well by now you get where this story is going. I am a believer in Eddys cream soups and would not pass the chance to order anything he offers. My girlfriend ordered chicken strips, fries and side salad and is singing her praises on that dish as well. She managed to get a few spoon fulls of my soup when I looked away. "The cream base is like Grandma's fresh creamed peas!" she praised. Bravo Eddy and Iris. Bravo. We are customers for sure.
