Took a ride to Madison, IL to try a fish house that has been serving the public for 98 years. Currently under 4th generation ownership. Marko's Fish House has a simple well executed menu. Cod fish sandwiches, shrimp, and sides. All cooked to order in their secret batter. No cornmeal here! About 5 stools and 4 tables to dine in but most business is to go. We both got the fish. 4-5 oz Icelandic cod. Served on thick cut Vienna bread with onions, pickles, and pepperoncini. Nicky got the mushrooms. I got the fries and sweet vinegar slaw. Delivered to our table hot in 10 mins with tarter sauce and ketchup bottles. Already on the table were hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Everything was perfect! The fish had a crispy outer and a flaky interior. Fries and shrooms were also crisp. The slaw was perfectly balanced. As all small restaurants, they are needing more business. This may be out of the way for you and they have limited hours but its worth the trip.

My boss told me about this place so I decided to try it out for myself , I am sooo glad I did !!!! Hands down the best fish 🐟 sandwich 🥪 I ever had , fresh bakery style bread and the finish prepared perfectly!! A hidden gem 💎 if your not from the area , family run business over 90 years 😳 , excellent customer service and a family vibe of a restaurant u feel like your entering someone house 🏠 rather than a restaurant 😊 Definitely a place to visit !!!!
