We live about 40 minutes away and like to hike in the park. We always stop at this restaurant after hiking and come here often. My husband loves the all-you-can-eat fried chicken dinner. It comes with TONS of sides. I always get the fried fish sandwich because I really like it. My sister-in-law loves their corn fitters. On our most recent trip, my best friend was with us. She's vegan and ordered the veggie wrap and liked it. They also have a full bar if you want to enjoy some adult beverages. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area!

We only stopped in for a quick bite and a cold beverage at the bar. Very cool and nostalgic Lodge. There is a restaurant bar gift shop and this is also where you check in for the rooms. Parking and then walking to the entrance was a little confusing. Wound up going in a side door. Everyone we spoke with was super helpful. Had great stories of the lodge surrounding area.

I loved it. Setting is beautiful, historic lodge is well maintained. Food, cocktails and people were great. (They had me at white lightening peach tea.) Only negative, as mentioned in the other reviews, is that the mattresses are way too soft. Seriously they should just buy some firm memory foam. But I cant wait to go back!

Delicious food served family style in a beautiful old lodge. The scenery is gorgeous. If you want a relaxing drive through the country and a great meal, this is the place for you!

Food and drinks: The delicious old-fashioned comfort food is served family style. We had the fried chicken. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green beans, slaw, dumplings, and fresh baked bread. Refills are provided on anything you want. Dessert was offered but we were too full so we passed on that! We went on Sunday for lunch. They were busy but service was still prompt and very friendly.

Noteworthy details: This is a beautiful old lodge in Giant City State Park in the hills of southern Illinois. We are from the area and have never stayed at the lodge, so we can't speak to the rooms, but the restaurant is great. We go a couple times a year for Sunday dinner or after we've been hiking on trails in the area. It's a relaxing drive through beautiful scenery with delicious food at the end, and that's pretty much perfection in my book!
