If you’re ever in Mattoon, Illinois, make sure to stop by the Honey Bee Cafe on Logan Street for their incredible Breaded Pork Tenderloin sandwich. The tenderloin itself was cooked perfectly—not too thick, yet moist and tender, with a golden, well-seasoned breading that was absolutely delicious. While it wasn’t the giant, dinner-plate-sized tenderloin you often see, it was more than enough to leave me satisfied, and it even made for a second sandwich for dinner later! For around $12, the meal came with a cup of rich, tasty broccoli cheddar soup and crispy French fries. I also added a glass of iced Sprite and some breaded button mushrooms, which were just as tasty as everything else.
My husband opted for the patty melt with fries and a side salad, and everything was equally delicious. The restaurant itself was clean, as were the restroom facilities, and the service was friendly and efficient. We will absolutely be back to enjoy more of their offerings!

This was our first time dining in at Honey Bee Cafe. The food was incredible, the atmosphere is welcoming and our server was named Dot, and she was the sweetest server and she had the best customer service! When we return to the restaurant, we want Dot as our server! One of the best restaurants we have been to and one of the best servers!

Came here with a group of 10 hailing from across GA, IL, and CT on a weekday with minimal notice. Incredible service from the whole waitstaff, and choosing what to order was difficult due to the extensiveness of the menu. After much deliberation I went with the Mattoon’s Favorite (fried pork tenderloin, sausage gravy, and eggs) with cheese and grilled onion hash browns and a biscuit—as an Illinoisan by birth raised in Georgia, it felt right, and it truly was a comforting delight. The portion sizes were quite generous and not painful on the wallet (slightly cheaper than a similarly sized portion at Waffle House and lightyears better in quality). I added a generous amount of their signature hot sauce—not very spicy, somewhat similar to Taco Bell’s, but with a more well-refined flavor profile. They sold bottles at the register so I had to jump at the chance to purchase one and bring it back hundreds of miles back home. If I ever end up in the area again, I know exactly where to go!

The food was absolutely amazing. I had the walleye and BF had the meatloaf. Everything was fresh and well prepared. Our server, an older gentleman, was attentive and polite. I wish we had a Honey Bee Cafe in our hometown! Thank you for having us!
