“I recently hired La Luna’s to cater my Son‘s celebration of life event. This restaurant is amazing, the food is fabulous. Everyone was so impressed by how delicious it was. The kindness and compassion shown to me by Amanda the owner was something I will never forget, she took away so much stress on the worst day of my life. no matter what you need them for they are excellent to work with. Love going there for dinner also!!!! All the employees are so kind and take very good care of their customers.”

“If you haven't been here, you're missing out! We've been multiple times and the service and food is always spot on! I keep thinking I'll try something new, but I keep getting the burger. It's the closest thing to a homemade burger you'll find around here. They even toast the bun. Try it. I guarantee you'll be back!”

“We eat here very often the food is great. We did have a problem on Easter Sunday lunch. My husband ordered chicken on the beach and was half the size that it usually is. He orders this all of the time and always very good, very disappointing. I hope management will straighten this out with the cooks. My food was excellent!”

“I went for a Class Reunion and had a Great Time! There were Sports on Several TVs. They have Slots. I played darts, and it came down to the last point but to my surprise i won the round. There is plenty of bar space and seating and patrons to fill'em. They have a fenced in beer garden/patio area with a smoke shack for when its cold outside. The staff is very Attentive and very Friendly. The entrances can be a little confusing and treacherousif you don'twatch your step. Plenty of parking albeit mostly gravel. Check it out and you could have a better time than you might expect!”

“We had the buffet. I am very selective when I order fried chicken at restaurants. I love fried chicken and The Villa has the best friend chicken I have ever eaten. Hats off to the person in charge of frying the chicken. I won't mention his name, but he is the best at fixing wonderful friend chicken. My only complaint is I wish the fried chicken was available every day. We will definitely be back many more times in the future.”

“Great karaoke place. Darienne is so kind and runs a fun bar. Staff is super nice and the pizza are good with lots of side items to put on them too. They recently expanded their parking lot and will soon have a really cool covered outdoor space current under construction.”

“The atmosphere and service are wonderful, but it's the food that makes Hunan my favorite restaurant in Mattoon. After moving to Illinois from California, we were looking for something bigger than a small-town cuisine. Hunan was more than expected. Date night turned into a delicious dinner. My husband had orange chicken, and I had the mushroom chicken, and we shared veggie lo mien. The food was amazing and flavorful. It exceeded our expectations. 100% recommendations. The service was a bit slow, but there was only 1 server, and she did her best to make sure we were taken care of. We will go back!”

“Glad to see the Alamo Steakhouse and Salon is still doing business in Mattoon, IL in front of the Cross Country Mall. My first paying job was there in 1982 - it was originally called Fat Albert's Steakhouse and Salon, first started in 1978, not sure when name changed to Alamo, probably sometime in the late 1980s or early '90's. Made $4.50 per hour in 1982 when minimum wage was at 3.10. Not bad. Worked part time, usually Wednesday nights and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for about 28-32 hours per week. Was a busboy dishwasher. Night shifts could see us not get done cleaning all the dishes until after midnight and sometimes as late as 1 am. Worked a few Saturday/Sunday afternoon lunch shifts but the night shifts were more demanding and crowded. Will never forget their thick and juicy steaks, of which I paid for a few at a discount, the great crinkle cut steakhouse fries and the chocolate cake, which I scarfed from time to time out of kitchen freezers. Great food back then, Manager back then was a man named Mike Cunningham, remember probably five other names but don't want to go into naming names. Man, those chocolate cakes!!! couldn't get enough of those.”

“Owners are great, the positive vibes & acceptance of different types of people is a breath of fresh air, the decor is rock n roll & it makes a super fun atmosphere. Prices are beyond reasonable and they also host fun events! Such a different feeling from the other bars in town. This place makes my little punk heart smile. Love em! Favorite bar I have been to in this area!!”

“Good people. Good service was recommended by one of my fellow army mates to check the spots in between why I won't lie. I feel like the food quality is kind in the middle for me not only is it not bad but it's also not good and the amount of choices is very limited. But then again this is a small to-go diner focus on Chinese plates and I feel like they but that's spot on. We're definitely revisiting again. Price wise. It's a little bit steep for me. $25 a person equaling 60 or $70 for only three people. I guess if it definitely pays its price if you eat a lot but discretion is yours”

“Wow! If only every business owner cared as much as as this one does! I’m in Michigan and I decided I wanted to surprise my Bestie to absolutely loves Ginger Ales. I emailed the owner asking if it would be possible to have someone drop off balloons and a card to give to my friend with a gift card. The owner of this location went way above and beyond by GOING TO THE STORE FOR ME! I am beyond appreciative and so grateful that business owners like this still exist! Definitely one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had was a business.”

“Great food and our young server was phenomenal. It was very busy and it did take a while to get our pizza... but they were VERY busy. The pizza was fantastic. It wasn't overly acidic and had a really great herb mixture... really giving the sauce a robust flavor. I can appreciate the flavor as too many pizza places get far too bland. We would like to visit again.”

“The quality of our local steak and shakes have significantly improved along with the staff. Much cleaner, tastes better, and even seems more filling than it used to. On top of that the new company policies like banning microwaves, beef tallow for their fried goods, and grass fed beef for the burgers. It went downhill a while ago but I can definitely say it has done a complete 360 and has honestly been one of our families favorite quick fast food locations now. Definitely better than McDonald's.”

Larissa, Laura, Gabby, and the young man working with them made an inconvenient corporate policy with online ordering a pleasant experience. “This is my favorite place in Mattoon since I get free food once or twice a month. They frequently mess up my order or give me somebody else's order. Since they can't take the food back they remake what I ordered plus I get whatever the other random thing they gave me for free.”

“6/3/26 Walked 3 miles round trip just for some subway and the morning shift made a sandwich that made it worth every step 5 stars 10/10 give those employees a medal!”

“This was our first time eating at this location and we were very disappointed with our entrees. We were seated quickly and given rolls and our salads came out as expected. Our main entrees took almost an hour and then were either overcooked or undercooked. We had a toddler with us and during our long wait for entrees we asked for just his food, a hotdog and fries, and couldn’t even get those out prior to the steaks. Our waitress was very good as far as keeping our drinks full and rolls on the table, but the kitchen staff were crazy slow. We got there at 11:00 and left at 1:00. We eat at Texas Roadhouse a lot and were greatly disappointed.”
