“The atmosphere and service are wonderful, but it's the food that makes Hunan my favorite restaurant in Mattoon. After moving to Illinois from California, we were looking for something bigger than a small-town cuisine. Hunan was more than expected. Date night turned into a delicious dinner. My husband had orange chicken, and I had the mushroom chicken, and we shared veggie lo mien. The food was amazing and flavorful. It exceeded our expectations. 100% recommendations. The service was a bit slow, but there was only 1 server, and she did her best to make sure we were taken care of. We will go back!“

“Good people. Good service was recommended by one of my fellow army mates to check the spots in between why I won't lie. I feel like the food quality is kind in the middle for me not only is it not bad but it's also not good and the amount of choices is very limited. But then again this is a small to-go diner focus on Chinese plates and I feel like they but that's spot on. We're definitely revisiting again. Price wise. It's a little bit steep for me. $25 a person equaling 60 or $70 for only three people. I guess if it definitely pays its price if you eat a lot but discretion is yours“

“Love this place! I’ve been eating here for about 18 years. The place is always clean and presentable and the selections at the Buffett are plentiful. I used to work for a pest control company when I started eating here and I can tell you that I saw some nasty places and this was not one of them. The staff are always great! My wife and have come to know and establish a friendship with the manager Annie. She is a beautiful person who is helpful to everyone. If you’re down in Mattoon, IL. and are craving Chinese food, this is the place.“
