Hubbartt's Downtown Diner

This was our first time here!! Service was very slow, by the time we got our food it was cold! The pancakes had no flavor whatsoever, biscuits and gravy was good but cold!! We never did get a 2nd cup of coffee :( I doubt we will go back!!

Recommend they inform customers that on Sun if you arrive near end of breakfast buffet you can't then go to lunch buffet.... before you order. We didn't get the food we would have eaten. We felt after finding out and we'd just eaten a little breakfast so ate less. We'd have never eaten the breakfast buffet and just waited for lunch buffet bc we'd driven 45 minutes to go to restaurant and had never been there before.

We stopped in for breakfast this morning. We decided to order from the made to order menu in place of eating off the buffet. It looked really good but decided we wanted something different. I had the Western Omelet minus mushrooms and it was fantastic. I had the fried home fries and wheat toast. My wife chose the Western Skillet with over easy eggs. She said it was really good. We shared an order of bacon and of course had to have the sweet tea. Nice diner experience and don’t forget a box of homemade lemon cookies to take home. Great home cooked meal location. We’ve had dinner here in the past but didn’t do a review then. It is definitely a place to visit. Great salad bar for lunch and dinner.

We eat here often. We love the salad bar. And when they have fried green tomatoe blts! Yum!! Also the service is usually always great. A few of the waitress are so fantastic and when they see us they already know what we want to drink and eat unless I change it up and order something I normally dont get.

Hubbartt’s Downtown Diner in Mattoon is a great breakfast spot in Mattoon, IL.
The food was delicious and the service was very friendly.
It was classic American breakfast but done very well.
The server got all of our orders correct and was quick with the coffee refills.
I will definitely be coming back on our next visit.

Quite the surprise, stumbled on this special establishment! Food is great, ton of options, and the staff is genuinely friendly. Taking a bag of the homemade croutons home as a gift. They even had my favorite box cake at the buffet. 10/10 recommended.
