I love all Chinese buffets, but my son is more of a connoisseur than I am. He loves this one in particular. He invites me there often. Of course, the food is excellent and the variety is good.

We've eaten at this particular restraunt for over 10 years, and the food quality is not what it used to be! The prices are significantly higher than other similar style buffets in Effingham. Also, if you eat at around 2 p.m., it's DINNER pricing with selections that haven't been refilled and are lacking. Even the sushi was questionable, as it wasn't chilled any longer. Poor timing or not?
As to the atmosphere, it's time for an update of the dining area, too. I'm pretty sure that all of the seating and flooring is the same as it was when they opened. The booth seats are cracked; be sure to get a table, especially if you're wearing shorts or a skirt.
The guy who cleared away our dishes was polite without being intrusive and was the best part of our dining experience.
We will go elsewhere in town for different food (Thai Noodle) or drive south to Effingham if we want a Chinese buffet. If you've not been to either of these, go give them a try!

This place was so nasty. Makes me wonder if they pay people for their reviews. The worst chinese buffet I've ever been to. Didn't even finish a plate of food. Soda was hot but food was cold lol

I rate it 3 stars because I once came and grabbed a to go box (mind you it costs more than the actual AYCE diner) and grabbed 8-13 frog legs and oh there’s now a limit and according to them “it’s a to go box not a mountain” don’t judge me infront of everyone, I’m not even a big person I’m a skinny dude and they felt the need to say it’s a to go box not a mountain, clearly they care a lot a about food rations, it’s not my fault I enjoy their frog legs have not came back since. Horrible service and they talk in mandarin or in their native language when you’re doing something wrong because all workers were talking in another language before approaching me, and no they don’t let you bring a bag to tighten your to go box so clearly my to go box was a not a mountain it was more of them being greedy with rations, and greedy by giving a 6x6 to go box for the price of almost $20, I’m sure they don’t act this way if you sit down however, and so that’s why I give 3 stars. The service isn’t the best but the food and atmosphere are amazing have been here other times in their all you can eat and no complaints about portion sizes I don’t know why they care so much about to go which is more expensive.

Love this place! I’ve been eating here for about 18 years. The place is always clean and presentable and the selections at the Buffett are plentiful. I used to work for a pest control company when I started eating here and I can tell you that I saw some nasty places and this was not one of them. The staff are always great! My wife and have come to know and establish a friendship with the manager Annie. She is a beautiful person who is helpful to everyone. If you’re down in Mattoon, IL. and are craving Chinese food, this is the place.
Place is horrible. All the food was cold. Couldn't get a refill on water. They charged 18$ for an 8 year old. For 18$ a piece i expect my food to be hot.

Used to be a great buffet but was just there and even though the food looked fresh and stocked it was not hot and fresh. Barley warm. The flavor was lacking. They used to have good Crab Rangoon but now it has almost no filling and is way too crispy. Be prepared to pay full price for a child, as adults and children both pay $17.10 for dinner buffet. The price does include a drink. $75 after tax for a family of 4 so the price is not great for the current quality.
