After waiting 30 minutes for our order it arrived with hair as a garnish!.. good thing we got a free cup of nacho cheese for the inconvenience.. Weird to ask for a tip on self service kiosks before even getting food. Will not be returning.

literally gave me less than half the carton full of fries and they were cold. Ordered a garlic burger and no garlic sauce🤷 not a garlic burger is it? My other friends got burgers without toppings as well and we never get the right amount of fries.

My family frequently goes to Steak n Shake because we all have food we enjoy there, but the Mattoon SNS is hands down the best we go to. Whole you still order through the kiosk, they being you your order to the table, the service is always with a smile, and the food is super fresh.
Kid-friendliness: The chicken tenders are my kids favorite of any restaurant! And who doesn't like a milkshake!

We decided to eat here a few days ago. It had been about 3 years since our last visit, and we were not impressed with the change. Instead of menus, it's now kiosks where you order and pay. The menu has been reduced to that of fast food, and so has the service and the atmosphere. Gone were the family sized booths and tables, and seating area was arranged tightly. Overall, I wasn't happy. The food was sloppy and now comes in plastic baskets with plastic flatware. Just an unpleasant experience altogether, and we won't be going back. Unfortunate, as this was one a few favorite places we liked to eat at.

If Steak and Shake ever wonders why they lost so much business, this is it. You don't pay me to order my own food. Same reason we refuse to self checkout everywhere else.
