I have been eating the Number 11 King with Everything + Onions and Peppers since the Little King in Rock Island became the original Hungry Hobo. On Monday, August 11, 2025, I was served the most perfect sandwich it has ever been my privilege to devour. I don't know who made this sandwich but may the Universe bless you and I hope you make all of my sandwiches from now on.
It's been a while since I have been to a Hungry Hobo. I was never impressed before, but the sandwich I had today was excellent! The price was right too! It's hard to get a decent meal for two people for $20 anywhere but that was exactly what I spent. I'll be back!
I used to really love Hungry Hobo. The last couple of times that I went, the taste, quality, and the way it was put together has gone downhill. The bread on the reuben just fell apart. The corned beef was very dry and tough. I asked for Thousand Island dressing and onions, and for the sandwich to be cut in half, neither were added, and the sandwich wasn't cut in half. It's just not the same as it used to be.
