It may be a smaller venue, but they had a solid drink menu with a lot of quality stuff available for very fair prices and excellent service. “Today I had the soup of the day ~ roasted tomato, bacon & dumplings - EXCELLENT! Broth based and extremely flavorful! Hubby had the Rueben - one of the best he’s ever had! Thick sliced marble rye, nice homemade shredded meat (little to NO fat!) - excellent sandwich!!! Fries are great!!!!“

“Babes is a great bar and reataraunt in Coal City. I stopped in on a Monday night after work to celebrate a friend's birthday and was not disappointed. Walking in the front door, the bar is open and inviting. There are gambling machines and a shuffle board table there to pass the time. I sat at the bar and was warmly greeted by Bri. I ordered a beer and a couple appetizers to start. The kitchen is in the front of the house so you can see your food prepared. The jalapeño poppers were a standard deep fried jalapeño with cream cheese, fried to a perfect brown crust on the outside and a creamy spicy inside. The cheese curds are an above average variety. The batter is salty and crunchy which pairs perfectly with the melted gooey cheese on the inside. Next up was the burger. I ordered a hamburger and fries which was recommended by everyone in the place. It did not disappoint. Grilled to order and seasoned with the confidence of an experienced cook. If you are in the area and want a great meal at a great place, stop in and check them out. I know I will be back when I'm in town.“
