I wish I didn’t have to write this, but I have no choice. As someone in the field of helping people this whole interaction from start to finish was so unfortunate. Paulina is down right rude, unwelcoming and overall seemingly annoyed with any and all interactions she has with eager and kind customers. Completely ruined my experience. So unfortunate. The bakery itself is great. Please hire better.

I have no idea what happened to this bakery. The pastries are absolutely not delicious anymore. They don’t have MANY of the products I use to get. They even changed the best thing, their custard. It’s terrible now, it has a little lemony taste, just not good anymore. Such a shame, I use to recommend them to all my customers. That won’t happen anymore

Always had a great experience at this bakery. Have been a customer there for over 50 years. Bought their decorated cakes for every special occasion.but this time very disappointed. I asked the clerk for 4 chocolate covered bismarks. I always buy them to share with friends. But this time they were filled with chocolate frosting, not custard, like they always have been. Very disappointed. They were very sweet and no one ate more then a few bites. Clerk never mentioned anything about the change in fillings. At almost 3.00 a piece, that was a lot of money that went into the garbage. Will not be ordering those again.

Nice place but the prices are outrageous and the $5 cookie I just bought is garbage. Was probably sitting in the glass case for weeks. Was dry as desert sand, stale, very brittle and had no flavor whatsoever. Worst cookie I've ever had.

Service on a weekday is slow and inefficient. One register for the entire store. Line was backed up as a result.

Since we moved to Mount Prospect in 2022, I have been getting birthday cakes here. My mother also likes to stop here to buy doughnuts or cookies from time to time. Everything we have had has been amazing! They even have a really good flourless cake for the kids with allergies (my nephew has a severe wheat allergy). Sure, I could get a cheaper cake somewhere else, but you get what you pay for here with a high quality product and great service.

On a beautiful Sunday in June of 2025, Bobby made the cake for our wedding. The design was exactly what I was looking to coordinate with our theme. I had gotten butterflies from Esty.

Our guests were surprised by how delicious the cake tasted. We had white cake with strawberry Bavarian cream filling on two layers and fudge on one layer.

It is nice to have one less thing to worry about after selecting Central Continental Bakery.

Amazing cake and gorgeous decorating!! We ordered a cake in advance for a Sunday morning pickup and not only was the bakery worker (I think his name was Bob) who I spoke with on the phone awesome, but the cake turned out beautifully and tasted delicious!!! He took time on the phone with me to make sure everything was as we wanted it from flavors to designs, and I’m just so pleased. This was a 1/2 sheet cake with yellow cake, whipped cream frosting, lemon preserves, and fresh strawberries - my new favorite combination, simply perfect for summertime. Everybody loved it! Would highly recommend Central Continental, and we will be ordering from you again for our next big occasion!

Recently purchased a special order cake. I've been a customer for 40+ years. Half of the cake went in the garbage. Had too much filling that overpowered the cake and it was supposed to be whipped cream. The whipped cream was more like eating Crisco. This cake wasn't cheap either. What ever has happened to our favorite bakery?

This place is an institution! Everything here is fresh and delicious, cannot go wrong with anything. Custom cakes have been a tradition here since I was a child and I can’t wait to get my daughter her first one this year.
