This spot is a must try! Plenty of parking in the front and plenty of seating inside. I ordered for pick up and they were super responsive and food was made quickly and fresh. I highly recommend!

I love this cute little place! Great food and service. Every time we are in Northbrook, we eat here multiple times because the sushi and ramen are so delicious. I've never had anything I didn't love.

Excellent food and experience all around. The tempura especially was amazing, when I picked it up and took a bite, oh man—the sound it made was so satisfying. That sharp, crunchy crack when my teeth hit the crust, Music. It was like biting into a perfect delicate chip! We will definitely be back!

I was surprised at the location so close from my home.
Very happy with the service and quality of the food. Specially Sushi is so fresh and healthy with reasonable price.
I will come back again soon ~

We finally decided to check out Sakae. We were not disappointed. The service was great the food was even better and the beer was cold.

Sushi SO SMALL it’s insane 9.99 for tiny rolls you can 2x more anywhere for the same price. Not even enough for a kid what is this?!?
DO NOT GO HERE!

The worst sushi in the burbs! We are sushi lovers and go to different places but this is the worst food we have tried in a while. The fish tasted awful, the specialty rolls were disappointing. The chicken plate was stale and old. If I could 0 start I would have. The only good plate was the Willis tower.

The bathroom was absolutely disgusting.

We did the spicy chicken ramen and chicken katsu box. Portions were great and everything tasted really good too. I have a pretty good spice tolerance and I found the level to be just right. Will definitely be back to try some of their sushi.
Don't dismiss this place, it's legit.

This place is OUTSTANDING. Everything is good. Get the OMG roll - they light it on fire at the table. Great date night spot. Cute outdoor area in summer. They have rolls, sashimi and nigiri, and if you don't eat any of that, you can get fully cooked entrees. I recommend Teriyaki Salmon or Red Snapper. Something for everyone! Even my 87 year old parents eat here.
It's not in a location that has shops and bars in walking distance.

Kid-friendliness: Unless your kids only eat pasta, they'll find something. Staff is very accommodating.

So many issues unfortunately:
1. While the miso soup is free, it was one of the worst I have. Very watery and had an overall bad taste.
2. Spicy Veggie Miso Ramen: The egg yolk had gone green and was way overcooked. The tofu was raw and flavorless. The miso broth was the same as the miso soup, no real dashi flavor.
3. Spicy Salmon Roll: The spicy sauce was gochujang, which was odd and overly sweet. A spicy mayo would be much better.
4. Akedashi Tofu (as it's called on the menu): No dashi flavor, no scallion. Just fried tofu with bonito and a teriyaki sauce? That's not right.
5. Bento Box: I tried to swap the california roll (allergy) for an avocado roll, but the waiter would not allow it. Not sure why because it's just removing the imitation crab from the roll.
6. TV was playing a slapstick comedy show, which made the ambiance odd for a hole in the wall sushi establishment.

Everything we’ve eaten has been so delicious - sushi, noodle dishes, edamame and gyoza, miso soup - all SO GOOD. Ate inside with two little kids and they were very accommodating. Dine in and take out are both fantastic. Highly recommend!

Kid-friendliness: Accommodating for two small kids.

My husband and I love this place! It's small and cozy for date night. The food is great and the service is excellent! We go there pretty regularly since it's also very close to our house! We definitely recommend giving this place a try. 😊

Vegetarian options: As with many restaurants, there are several vegetarian options. This is not my personal thing but it is available.

Parking: The parking lot is large enough for a restaurant of this size.
