i love this place so much. the coffee is amazing, never tastes burnt. ice cream in the summer and my kiddo loves to play in the adjacent green area outside. everyone including the customers who hang out there are so friendly. awesome atmosphere, way better quality and price than big chain coffee places, and love supporting small businesses. def a hidden gem of mundelein, thank you.

Very homey vibe, really nice place to sit and chat. Workers behind counter and owner were very friendly and helpful on the Saturday morning that I went. Prices are very reasonable; the iced coffee I got (cookie doughy latte) is better than a lot of local lake county shops. I was disappointed in the cheese and spinach egg bake though, it seemed to be sitting in a pool of liquid was slightly cold in the middle. Overall all though, really sweet place

This is by far the BEST coffee shop we've been to. Staff has ALWAYS been so nice and knowledgeable about my special requests. The atmosphere is so welcoming, and their prices are very reasonable. We drive a ways to get here every Sunday, but we don't regret it ever! # bestcoffeeever!

Great local coffee shop serving local roaster's blends along with fantastic local bakery items. Extremely friendly and makes you feel like your having coffee across the table at home. A must stop when in the Mundelein area.

Nice friendly people are serving, and the people going there are too. They have guitars on the wall, if you want to play, and a record player and albums if you want to listen to some oldies. Fun flavored coffee options thar change a little with the seasons.
Kid-friendliness: There is a little park area next to the building with artificial grass and objects to climb on. Seating out there too.

Great coffee shop to meet up with friends with or without kids. This neighborhood coffee shop has the most outdoor seating I've ever seen for a coffee shop. During COVID, the village of Mundelein closed a part of the street right in front of this place for outdoor seating and has kept it closed since. The village also opened a little park right next door with play elements for little kids alongside a beautiful mural. Kitty corner is a village parking lot. There is a stage in the street for occasional entertainment. Inside, they offer a large selection of baked goods from several locally respected bakeries as well as occasional ice cream (looked like they had capacity for 6-8 flavors to hand scoop).
Parking: Free village parking lot is kitty corner from here as well as free street parking. Plenty very close by unless there is an event.
Kid-friendliness: Small village park with a few little kid play elements located right next door. Lots of treat options and drinks available as well as occasional ice cream.
Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs, seems should be fine. Indoors has lots of seating, but might make it difficult to wheel through if aisle ways aren't kept open from seated guests.

I highly recommend Area Coffee. Best cafe to meet with people (friends, family and business) over a cup of coffee, ice-cream or desert!

Their horchata latte is delicious! Try it with coconut milk! One of the town treasures of Mundelein!
Also, with pleasant weather, the outdoor seating is delightful!
Dietary restrictions: Plenty of non-dairy options on their coffee menu!
Parking: Mundelein is very parking friendly, especially in the close area of Park Street, with plenty of spots.

Came into cafe wondering prices of items. Two workers we asked prices we were told if we let them know what we want they could give us a price. They continued to fill orders already taken while we waited over 10 minutes but no one took our order or gave us prices for anything. We decided to leave. Tried to dine in. Can't give any feedback on products due to us leaving for lack of service.

Coffee is from local roaster hansa. Extremely watered down. 2 stars for creativity of the latte drinks otherwise it'd def be a 1 star review
