The coffee was excellent, just like a cozy diner should have. The Maurie Eggs Benedict looked great, but ordered the cornbeef hash. It was excellent. The vibes are 1980/90s diner. Service was spot on with free flowing coffee and prompt attentive service. Must drop in for a bite.

Ordered a bacon cheeseburger to go and they forgot the bacon. Beyond that the burger sucked anyway. Dry, and flavorless burger on a cheap, low quality bun. It’s not difficult to make good food. And you’re a restaurant, you should be a pro.

Another local fabulous eatery in Mundelein! Second time visiting and the food is just super good. We got the Mauri’s poached egg plate and western omelette. The people who run the diner are just super nice and our server also. See you next time!

Just moved to Mundelein with my boyfriend, and have officially found our new breakfast joint! Food is incredible! It came out hot and fast! And the employees are awesome. They give a great atmosphere to the entire place. We will keep coming back again and again!

Club sandwich is off menu but so good
I’ve been coming to this place for years and let me just say… these guys are amazing! I have mainly ordered food for to go but every single time the staff has been incredibly sweet and accommodating to both me and my husband. I usually always get the same thing (Chilaquiles verdes con chorizo), but my husband is definitely more adventurous than me. He’s a huge fan of their sausage gravy and has tried practically every dish that contains it (there are more than you’d expect). He’s had the classic biscuits and gravy, the farmers skillet, and the country benedict I believe it’s called. My husband also has a habit of ordering a side of said gravy and throwing it on top of any skillet he orders (especially the country one). Hubbys considering bribing a server for the recipe lol. Recently my daughter ordered one of the iced coffees there and WOW!! They have homemade coffee cubes???!!! How genius is that
I believe she tried the caramel flavored one but I’m more of a vanilla gal so I would definitely recommend that one.
The real test that has me saying this place is a true gem, was when we officially dined in. Lord knows I’ve been missing out. Staff is super friendly and open to chitchat (both in spanish and in english might I add) Server was constantly going around with coffee and pop refills, we were able to get a side of the creamer used for iced coffee for our regular cups, they had a very nice and welcoming mural on the wall and art all over the place that I actually got to sit and admire.
They also had aguas frescas such as horchata, jamaica, and an orange one I believe might be melon. Can’t wait to try.
Overall a very homey and welcoming family owned place with amazing comfort food and music.
Keep it up you guys!
Vegetarian options: I saw some items on the menu labeled as vegetarian such as a skillet, omelette, and a jumble. I saw that some stuff also didn’t have meat but weren’t labeled vegetarian, and a bunch of items could have the meat taken off and still probably taste good
Kid-friendliness: As for the kiddos, my daughter grew up on the funny face, now that she’s a teenager she’s having trouble letting go of that kids menu.
Wheelchair accessibility: For such a small place I saw that they were able to sit a large party with a wheelchair and comfortably

Quite possibly the WORST experience ever. Rice was mush, beans were cold. Food lacked overall flavor and the service was garbage. I’ve never had an experience this terrible to the point where I leave a review. We ordered a cream of chicken and rice soup that was sour… she then tells me there’s lime juice in it. It tasted like milk that’s turned and like they have that response prepared because it’s a common occurrence. I promise you the food is not what these 5 star reviews are leaving. $40 for that lukewarm garbage is insane. Hopefully my review saves at least one person from suffering from this place.
