Board & Barrel is a trendy spot in downtown Naperville that is known for its craft beer selection and live country and folk music. There is a reason it is not known for its food. If you are looking for great food then you would be better served to look elsewhere. Similarly, if you are coming on a weekend evening be prepared for a wait and for service to be less than stellar. If you do decide to eat there, be prepared to pay above average prices for frozen and mass produced food. Overall, eat elsewhere and come to Board & Barrel for the atmosphere, music, and drinks.

Just visited for the first time with my girlfriends. The drinks and beer selection was great, however the food was lacking in flavor. The fries had no seasoning, and the chicken was extremely bland and dry. Very disappointing.

My fiance and I love trying new places so we were really excited to try Board & Barrel. The reviews were decent and the pictures looked awesome! We loved the live music and the vibe of the place. However, I am sad to say we will not be going back to Board & Barrel after our experience tonight. My fiance ordered a beer and I order a glass of wine. It took about 10mim to get but we enjoyed the music and loved the vibe. We were really hungry so we ordered 3 appetizers.I was really excited for them and time just kept going by and going by.. I looked at my phone to see what time it was and realized it had almost been an hour! We ordered 8 traditional bone in wings, jalapeno poppers and southwest rolls.I asked the server if it normally takes that long and he said there was only two chefs in the kitchen.. the place was busy for a Friday night but not insanely busy.I was so hungry and thought the food must be amazing amazing amazing if it's taking this long. Finally after an hour long wait we get our 3 appetizers that looked like overcooked frozen food aisle bagged appetizers you could make at home. Three average looking poppers thrown off center on a plate with a side of dipping sauce. The chicken wings came with the sauce on the side which was not told to us ahead of time cause we like sauce on our wings. The flavors on the menu sounded unique and creative but I'm pretty sure the honey chipotle bbq sauce was just sweet baby Ray's. Nothing wrong with that but when your paying $13 for 8 wings you would expect more. They were also so over cooked they were dry and rubbery with the bone ball joint full exposed because over the overcooking and dryness. The southwest egg rolls were also very generic tasting.I was so upset. We were going to order dinner from there but instead we left and we to Empire and split a burger.Empire was pretty packed it's a bigger busy place and we got are food in under 15min and it was fresh and delicious along with professional unique presentation for a good price. We spent $75 at Board &Barrell for the 3 appetizers and two drinks. Very very disappointed, I feel like we got jipped big time.

I love this place because it has so many varieties of cider! I have been looking for a cider bar that was close to home (closer than the city) for quite some time with no luck---until now. Me and my husband went on a Saturday night. The live music was awesome, the energy was high and the staff were very friendly and accommodating--and funny! The only reason I gave four stars instead of five was because we found the food a bit bland. I had the Nashville Spicy Chicken and Belgian Waffle sandwich and my husband had the Montana burger. Neither plates were bad, just a bit boring. the Spicy chicken sandwich could have used a little more maple syrup or some other kind of sauce, I found it was very dry and there was only a very small dollop of maple syrup under the sandwich. The fries could also possibly use some kind of seasoning, they were also very dry and plain. On the other hand, we had the cheese curds, and those were really good! They came with two different types of sauces to dip them in which were both very good, I would recommend getting the cheese curds : ). Overall, great experience and I would recommend trying this place out!

Stopped by for dinner last night. I had heard good things bad we decided to check it out. Love a really good beer selection as well as other liquors and wine. the food selection is pretty good some typical bar food and some definitely not typical. Both my wife and I found several items we'd like. Our order came right away and the food was great. They appear to have live music many nights and last night it was great!Definitely going back!

Great Open Mic starting at 8 p.m. until midnight or Beyond. great drink prices for the Naperville area. Great place to go to relaxUpdate: A sign of a we'll run establishment are fast response times on reviews! I'm looking forward to next Tuesday as I expect that Tuesday nights will become quite popular very soon!

Not the greatest dining experience. Food was over cooked and service was extremely slow. The food was also overpriced for the quality. I finished my food before everyone at the table received their food. Take a pass on board and barrel.

Good beer selection overall as well as a cool atmosphere in downtown Naperville. The food wasn't exactly the greatest, and they had a live music performer who was singing rather badly, yelling into the mic (the place was small, so very loud) and had some "original" songs that were kind of cringey to listen to, such as "I got high and missed it."

I wish there were two different sections to grade this restaurant on.
