As soon as you walk in, the smell of strong chai hits you. The drinks here are absolutely fantastic and strong. Came during brunch on a Sunday and it was quite busy, be prepared to eat outside if you want to eat in. Highly recommend.

This place was on our wishlist for a long time and we finally made it there. The Mumbai cutting chai is awesome and we also had a sandwich. Great ambience. Must add that this place puts Starbucks ambience to a shame! Highly recommended

It’s hard to find a place where you feel home in terms of environment, service and communication. But on top of it, ordering the food, and as you take the 1st bite, your ❤️ just fill with gratitude and prayers for the people who made the food! This is what Chai Ho Jai is all about ?
Today I tried their Halwa Puri brunch! As I entered the place, it was full to the brink, no place to sit….and I am thinking the food must be delicious :). And after waiting for 30 min, when I receive the order, I thought to myself that the wait must be worth! And you won’t believe, it was not only worth it, but I would say I could have waited 1 hour for the food which had authentic flavor, taste, texture and aroma form back home :)
I can say Chai Ho Jai is a home away from home, because while eating, I have been thinking about the Halwa Puri that my mom had made during my recent visit to Pakistan ?
I wish all the best to the owner for coming up with this sanctuary, which I am looking forward to come soon. And I have a feeling if the owner has bandwidth to expand, this could be next big thing!!

Chai Ho Jai in Chicago is a great place to try!
try their Pakistani delicacies
The halwa puri was authentic and flavorful, the falooda was refreshing with just the right sweetness, and the laccha paratha was perfectly crispy and layered. loved the Kashmiri chai in actual glassware —it had the perfect balance of rich, aromatic flavors.
The only drawback was the limited seating; with such a popular spot, finding a table was challenging. But for the taste and experience, it’s absolutely a place we’d visit again!

Here’s an updated version of the review with that feedback included:
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
I recently visited here and had high hopes based on previous experiences and the menu, but a concerning incident left me questioning the restaurant’s hygiene standards.
While waiting for our order, I saw the barista preparing our lassi. They used a spoon to mix the lassi in its container, took a sample to air test it (holding it just a few inches from their mouth), and placed the spoon on a tray. He then engaged with another coworker and, after doing so, returned to grab the same spoon off the tray (without rinsing it) and placed it back into the container to mix again before repeating the air test. This process raised concerns, as the same spoon was repeatedly used without sanitizing, which felt unsanitary.
I politely provided feedback, suggesting a more sanitary approach, but was told, “This is a practice across many businesses, even Starbucks; I can even show you cctv footage to confirm it was not placed in the barista’s mouth. Others have raised the same concern and we continue to reassure that we remain very strict with ensuring no contact is made.” While I appreciate the attempt to reassure, it didn’t address the core issue of repeated spoon use without sanitizing, which doesn’t align with the level of hygiene I expect. I continued to share that a more hygienic and customer appealing practice can be exercised like sampling in a small cup, to which I received the following response, “our barista has over 10 years of experience and if any unhygienic practice were performed, the barista would not be working for us. If you still feel uneasy I can give you a refund for the drinks.” Disappointed with the response, I went ahead with the refund.
I’d recommend management revisit food handling protocols to ensure cleanliness and give customers confidence.

There food packaging and advertising is very nice but when you drive from 30 mins away and expect good food then you really want good food not how it was packaged. I think they can do better! I will change my review if next time I get something better but till then sorry.
