A lovely, impromptu girls’ evening landed us at City Gate Grille, and honestly, it was one of those why-don’t-we-do-this-more-often nights.

There was live jazz setting the mood, well-crafted Old Fashioneds doing their job beautifully, and just enough indulgent bites to keep us happily lingering. The French onion soup was rich and comforting, and the lamb sliders were downright amazing, tender, flavorful, and very easy to over-order.

The space itself is warm, sleek, and inviting, with a comfortable, good-looking bar that makes you want to stay for “just one more.” Service was friendly and attentive without hovering; exactly right for a relaxed night out.

Jazz, cocktails, good food, good company. City Gate Grille gets it. 🎷🥃✨

We've been here multiple times. The food is pretty good. What we keep forgetting each time is that the service can be really slow. And it was again this time.

We took advantage of the restaurant week special. Scallop first course was excellent. Lobster bisque not all that—soup base needs some work (tastes like Campbells tomato soup made with cream.) Entrees (filet & pork chop) were tasty, but we waited a LONG time to receive them. Desserts: Espresso crème brûlée not so great; eggnog bread pudding much better.

This was my first time here, and I was really excited to try it with family that was visiting from out of town. Unfortunately, it was not a great experience. It took forever for the server to even acknowledge us, and when he did and we placed our drink order, it took 30 minutes to get those drinks. Then, we ordered our food, and it took 45 minutes to get the food. From start to finish, this was a three hour dinner. There were five of us, and the bill was $400, and the food was just fine. Sadly, I cannot recommend this place.

We eat here often, mainly at lunchtime. Every expectation is consistently met. Scott takes good care of us every time. We especially enjoy the Business Lunch offering. This visit, we were greeted by Mrs. Calabos. A treat!

This was our third time here. So, yes, we have enjoyed food and ambience. The ambience was much quieter on previous occasions. Not to say we don't enjoy a lively atmosphere of New Year's Eve. Previous times I had the lamb chops which were delicious and my husband raves about their filet mignon. My disappointment this time was the bartenders lack of knowledge and preparedness to make a classic champagne cocktail. They gave me an Aperol Spritz. Huh?! I gave waiter the recipe. He said the bar doesn't have sugar cubes. Huh?! So, I just had Prosecco rose, which was enjoyable. In regards to food, my husband had his filet again and I had the halibut, which was ok. We both had French onion soup and a wedge salad, which were delicious! Our server, Miguel, was accommodating and sociable, but he appeared hectic. We will return.

We dine at City Gate every couple of months or so. We've always have had a very good experience there. However, we didn't expect our NYE to be as great as it was. The band that was playing during dinner was just terrific! Return2Soul is their name. Blues, jazz, Mo-town plus other genres. CG has had other groups playing while we've been there, but none as good as these guys. I'd love to know if they are being booked anytime in the future. Oh, yeah, the calamari was excellent.

The City Gate Grille is a favorite go-to for a great meal in a very nice place. When they have live entertainment it is always enjoyable and very good.

We spent New Years Eve at CityGate for dinner. Dinner was amazing like always. Our waiter, Miguel, was very good. Only had one issue. My husband found a very sharp bone in his New York strip steak that he almost swallowed, which would not have been good. The manager took his meal off the bill, which was nice. All the employees there are always kind and very attentive. If you have never tried CityGate, I highly recommend.

Always a great experience. Live music, delicious food and our server Scott was awesome. Great birthday dinner for my mom and I.
