Sorry but everytime I get this boba it is one of the worst I’ve had. I even got boba from gong cha in Kyoto and it was still bad. Not very flavorful and tastes watered down :/

Absolute garbage service with heartless employees. Dumpster fire of a location I would never ever chose to come here if I was warned. I get it your job is not the most fun but absolutely zero kindness or understanding when THEY mess up your drink. Honestly they should be embarrassed idk how they feel after these interactions but personally I’d not sleep very well at night. Good luck to the poor saps who waste their time and money here.

My friend and I went to this gong cha location today, we have both been to many other stores and been able to get regular boba. My friend ordered a tea with regular boba and they gave her brown sugar and insisted that that was just how they did it there. When I politely asked if they could refund her or make a different drink they rudely refused. Genuinely have never had such a bad customer experience.

Wanted to like this place but it’s true what the other reviews are saying, the staff at this shop treat their customers poorly. The drinks we ordered were alright tasting, they were kind of bitter and watered down though for a 100% sweetness, brown sugar boba milk tea. I wanted to give them another try and order a different drink. However, I was never given the chance, since the older grumpy lady rudely told me and other customers that they’re closed already. Mind you, she said this while there were still 20 minutes left before closing time and she was still taking another customers order. Probably won’t be coming back here, not worth it.

terrible customer service i forgot to add tapioca to my drink and asked if i could get it added and that i would pay for the add on but refused to add it and told me i had to order a Whole Nother drink which is so stupid. never coming again. mind you i also gave these mean little girls tip too and still refused to just add tapioca to my drink!!

I have been going to Gong cha in Naperville, IL inside Hmart since Gong cha had opened there. The tea is good. I'm not sure what happened but their customer service had gone down. I gave it a 2 star for having poor customer service.
Update: 6/12/2025 I got a respond to an email I sent to a team member of Gong Cha. This person mentioned that they will be reinforcing the training in customer service. My situation will be addressed to the team who was involved.
Maybe, in the future I can visit again. In hopes that there will be positive changes in customer service.

Horrible service today, I just ordered an earl grey milk tea with white pearl, 30% ice, 50% sugar at the machine. It didn’t send me receipt nor print out one. They gave me an oolong milk tea with 100% ice 50% sugar and no white pearl … i asked the lady to see if they can make a new one for me cuz that was not I ordered. Without any receipt I can’t even argue what I had ordered. The lady told me to order a new drink with very bad attitude. I paid for and had to drink something that I did not order. Also, the drink tasted horrible. Bad experience and I’ve always been ordering here. Probably last time now.

I have given this place more than a few chances to make things right. After my last visit, I’m sure I will never go back again. Not only are their boba teas not up to the standard (i.e. sometimes the drinks were too sweet, sometimes they tasted like water; the boba was never at the right softness/texture), their staff are just poorly trained. Most of them are RUDE at best. For example, during my very last visit, the cashier rolled his eyes when I wanted to pay with cash. They are not afraid to show their attitude. Of course, the drink wasn’t even my order. I had ordered a boba tea with grass jelly, pudding, and boba - I got a boba tea with nothing. Worst of all, it was MY BIRTHDAY and I didn’t deserve to be treated like an animal. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. There are other places in Naperville with better boba tea -and most importantly- friendlier staff.

I usually like this place until the last time I ordered via mobile and after I picked it up I noticed there’s missing ingredients, I went back asked the staff, they said they don’t have that ingredient anymore. I asked them for refund, the older lady also said they can’t issue refund, also cannot substitute to other ingredients. So speechless. If they don’t have that ingredient anymore why still available on the order website, and why they didn’t tell me at first when I picked it up, only when I went back confronted them they admitted there’s missing ingredient and no refund. Like they don’t give a sxxt. I’m disappointed at the service and dishonesty of the staff. Be careful when ordering your drink, check the ingredients you get.

So usually I’ve been adoring this place, but my last few times here haven’t been as great. The last two times I was here, I asked for light ice and the whole cup was filled with ice, which would’ve knocked it down to four stars for me. However, this time I came and they opened 50 minutes late, which really sucked, but the ice was actually light this time! The drinks do taste great. Maybe not waiting for an hour great, but they are delicious.
