I with my kids, had Garlic Naan, Paneer Butter Masala & Shahi Paneer. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the ambience of the restaurant and warm welcoming behavior of the kids.
I’ve been a regular customer and usually enjoy the food here, especially the Bhaturas. However, this time I ordered one plate of Chole Bhature with an extra Bhatura and Veg Hakka Noodles, and I was really disappointed.
The Bhaturas were extremely oily, loaded with cumin, and had a texture like papad—hard and crispy instead of soft and fluffy. There was no real taste, which is unlike my previous experiences.
The Hakka Noodles were decent, but the Bhaturas completely ruined the meal for me. Hoping this was a one-off mistake and quality improves next time.
We were traveling from Philadelphia to Chicago and stumbled upon Shimla Pepper in Naperville — and what a delightful find! This place has now officially earned a permanent spot in all our future Chicago trips.
We began our meal with a variety of appetizers: Katori Chaat, Gobi Manchurian, Haryali Paneer Tikka with Peppers, and Veg Hakka Noodles for the kids. Everything was incredibly flavorful, but the Gobi Manchurian and Paneer Tikka truly stood out — both were exceptionally delicious and perfectly prepared.
For the main course, we enjoyed a rich and satisfying spread: Dal Makhni, Dal Tadka, Kadai Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala, and the amazing Malai Soya Chaap, all served with soft Rumali Roti. To go with it, we ordered a selection of breads — Lacha Paratha, Achari Naan, Chur Chur Naan, and Tandoori Roti — each fresh and flavorful. The Dal Tadka and Soya Chaap were especially memorable and packed with taste.
We ended our feast with a mouth-watering dessert — Angoori Rabdi. It was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious — the perfect sweet finish to a fantastic meal.
On top of the amazing food, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, offering a warm and inviting ambiance that made the dining experience even more enjoyable.
The dishes with bell peppers are a must-try — they carry a unique flavor that lives up to the restaurant’s name, Shimla Pepper.
Overall, this was finger-licking food that was worth every penny. Excellent service, elegant decor, great presentation, and unforgettable flavors — highly recommended for anyone in or visiting the Chicago area!
Authentic indian food served with so much love and perfection, must try paneer lababdar
Super good quality Indian vegetarian food. We had the buffet and there were many options. I'll be back again.
After hearing so many good things about their food and cozy atmosphere, my wife, my mom, and I decided to drive from Chicago to Brookdale Square to visit Shimla Peppers. Honestly, the food and ambiance lived up to the hype—the dishes were flavorful, and the space felt warm and inviting. We enjoyed our meal and were just about ready to call it a perfect lunch.
But when the check arrived, things suddenly didn’t add up. The bill came to $95 for three people, even though the buffet was $24.99 per person. By my math, that should have been about $75 for the food, and maybe another $6 or so for Brookdale Square tax—so I expected the total to be around $81.
At first, I thought there must have been a mistake, especially since we were only a party of three. Usually, the menu or receipt (and just common sense) says that automatic gratuities are only added for groups of six or more. It was even more frustrating that the surcharge was hidden behind their handheld POS (Point of Sale) device. I never saw a printed bill with the breakdown, so I tipped an extra $10 on top of the buffet price—completely unaware I was already being charged extra.
When I brought this up to the manager, she was surprisingly dismissive and didn’t want to admit anything was wrong. She blamed the busy day, even though only one other group was in the restaurant. Rather than listening or trying to resolve the issue, she was curt and made me feel like I was the problem for even bringing it up.
It was disappointing because up until that moment, we’d had a lovely experience—especially after making the trip from Chicago. I understand mistakes happen, but how they’re handled makes all the difference. If you decide to visit Shimla Peppers, I recommend double-checking your bill—and be prepared for some pushback if you question any “hidden” fees. The food is good, but the customer service, at least in my experience, needs serious improvement.
The manager offered to refund $15, but with the surcharge and my extra tip, I was overcharged by closer to $25. Honestly, it’s fine—you can keep the tip. The trade-off is that we won’t return, and I won’t recommend Shimla Peppers to others. Instead, you’ve just earned a one-star review from me.
The food here is good, the employees are so nice and they work so hard. I am American and I love Indian food. But I am disappointed with the work environment. The thing is, whenever I’m here, I can hear someone yelling at the employees. Could be the boss maybe. I hope the boss treats his workers well.
I always tip my server a great tip to brighten their day.

I recently dined here and had a fantastic experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch—attentive without being intrusive.
One thing I noticed was the abundance of decor throughout the restaurant. While it definitely adds character, I think a more minimalist approach could enhance the overall vibe and make the dining experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and service!

Ordered paper chaat and paneer pakora. Paneer pokora was burnt with salt and the red chatni for papri chat was hot instead of sweet. Total wastage of money
