One of my favorite Japanese restaurants. I've been going here for years. Even though the management has changed through the years the food remains the same - fresh and delicious. The Maki and salmon is delicious.

I have eaten at many, many sushi restaurants over the years. Fujiyama is by far the best sushi I have ever eaten in my life without question. Fujiyama's sushi is simply magical.

Chicken teriyaki was very dry. Hard to to eat. Very disappointed, asked for extra sauce got a drop.

I don't often leave negative reviews, but I feel the need to here. The food was the most bland Japanese food I've ever had. I got the suki yaki. The beef was tough. The broth was no flavorful at all. It just was so disappointing. I also ordered the sweet potato tempura roll. The sweet potato wasn't cooked through; it was crunchy. My friend got the udon bowl. She said it was very bland. On top of all that, the prices were very high. I wouldn't have minded the price if the food was good, but it wasn't here. I'm sorry to say, but I would not recommend this place at all.

We are regular customers at Fujiyama - because it's excellent! Not only is this the best Japanese restaurant in Northbrook, but the surrounding suburbs too. Fresh, tasty melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

If there's a way to display NEGATIVE stars , then this place would deserve them. 1) Extremely dated decor. This outright states the business is barely hanging on since they can not keep their establishment from looking like it's a run-down place from the late 80's. 2) Bathrooms are gross. It's apparent that the husband and wife team are just financially struggling and hanging on to a business for all intent and purposes needs to simply close its doors. The place does not employ ANY help. Therefore, the owners have neglected critical aspects of the business, like cleanliness. 3) Floors are so gross that if you're wearing any footwear that has rubber bottoms (i.e. sneakers), you'll hear the sticky noise with every step as you walk along the floor. 4) The business is EXTREMELY OVER PRICED! The sushi portions are extremely small. I visited a great deal of sushi places around the North Shore, and this place had the skimpiest portions to price ratio I'd EVER seen. I had ordered the Tekka Don, and the tuna portions were a FRACTION of what you'd get at Blu Fin. If you've never tried Blu Fin, I'd highly recommend it. Yes, you'll be paying through the nose, but the portion sizes very much compensate for the price. In the case of THIS sushi place, that is NOT the case. You'll feel ripped off once you receive the bill. Just even observing the smaller size of the bowl that my Tekka Don was served in exemplified further how small the portion size was comparatively to other sushi establishments. 5) Furthermore, food is not as fresh as you'd expect from a sushi restaurant. The tuna and salmon both had a "fishy smell to them. The miso soup was barely warm. If you are searching for a decent sushi place, just drive past this location and hit up Blue Fin.

Ordered 4 different nigiris - Tuna, Salmon, Scallops and Sweet Raw Shrimp. The pieces of fish are good size. I usually love Tuna but it did not seem fresh. The salmon was solid. The scallops were covered in a spicy mayo sauce which was good. The sweet raw shrimp were my favorite as they did seem fresh and the taste was delicious as you cannot really serve low quality sweet raw shrimp. The wasabi was not fresh and was the horseradish variety you see at most places so not docking a point for it but very impressed when there is fresh wasabi. I ordered Tuesday which is usually when most restaurants get in fresh shipments of fish but maybe was not the case on that day as I am seeing a lot of high reviews.

We had an excellent meal of soft shelled crab along with sushi and sashimi platters. The fish was fresh, the texture perfect, the variety of sashimi was very good. The only think missing was the daikon, they use cucumber in its place. Crab was very tasty. The restaurant is a small, cozy place. I'd go back or recommend without hesitation.

What a sweet little sushi house! There are only 7 tables inside, so it feels very cozy and friendly. The sushi is fantastic, very fresh and flavorful. I'll definitely be back.

the food there is not worth the money, there are waaaaaay too many sushi places that have a creative and delicious menu instead of this gross and rude restaurant. the owners have let this place go, it's pretty run down, and on top of it, they are extremely rude. if you don't appreciate your customers, find another job/business, having a nasty server/owner is no way to start a meal.
