The hostess and server were very nice. The wines (three glasses total) we ordered were chilled, which was a nice surprise, and we enjoyed them. We ordered the Tapeo plate (the serrano ham was fine, nothing terribly special), and it only came with one kind of cheese, which was broken up into baby-sized pieces. Another kind of sausage was on the board, but we did not care for it. There were some unappetizing-to-behold pickled peppers, some strangely-thick, toasted bread, and some dijon mustard. I have lived in Spain and been to many, many tapas restaurants in multiple countries, but this was just a bizarre combination of flavors. I have never seen a charcuterie board like this, much less in a tapas restaurant. The queso de cabra was fine, but, again, the bread was nothing to write home about. The bacon-wrapped dates (four in the order) were fine, but those are pretty hard to screw up, and the sauce drizzled on them was absolutely flavorless. I was glad we did not order more, as all of the food was just okay at best. I would highly recommend that whomever made up this menu actually go to Spain and learn about Spanish food...this wasn't it. For that small amount of ordering, the bill was $120, which is a lot for what we received. I will just stay home and make my own tapas next time rather than returning there.
This was the worst tapas I have ever had. Poor quality meat and the mussels were very stinky.
I love El Tapeo! I think it has some of the best tapas outside of Barcelona. Great paella!! Really good patatas bravas and other dishes. Delicious empanadas and all the other tapas plates. El Tapeo is one of my favorite restaurants!!
Great first time experience. Enjoyed having a window seat! Service was excellent. Food was all very good with one minor issue. We had the Dates, Artichokes, Beef Empanadas and Chicken Kabobs, Tangerine Sorbet (yummy). The Chicken kabobs even with the Chimichurri was very bland and dry. Hard to eat and hard to remove from the skewer. We enjoyed everything else. A nice glass of wine and a Modelo rounded out our meal with a cup of (good) coffee. We will be back.
Nice views on the 9th floor overlooking Oak Brook. However the food didn't taste like traditional tapas we usually have in Spain. They were out of two items completely (despite being the only clients in the restaurant). We had an allergy at our table and several items were brought out that contained the allergy item without the waiter having told in advance that they were pre-made and couldn't take it out. Overall don't plan to return.
We sat (party of 6) next to the window that provided an overlook of Oak Brook from the 9th floor. The server, Crystal, was very attentive. We had 3 different paella's and a bunch of tapas. It was the perfect atmosphere for 6 friends to get together and catch up.
Great food! Enjoyed the time with my girlfriend, we will be back. Easy choice when staying at Le Méridien.
Our server, Michael, took very good care of us, and made great suggestions for what to order. My favorite was the chicken empanadas. They were very flavorful and the pastry was light and flaky. My husband's favorite was the short rib flatbread. Also very tasty and filling.
We sat at the bar and had to repeatedly ask for service?! Water glasses empty. Multiple used plates. Refill on Sangria. The carne asada was good, but the rest of our order wasn't anything special. The artichokes looked nothing like the photo on their menu, which was a shame. Glad we tried it, but will not be returning.
Terrible experience. Poor wine list. We selected a wine, from the list, after a 30 minute wait, we were informed they did not have the wine I ordered. We ordered. Two tapas and a seafood paella. 45 minutes after we ordered, the tapas arrived. Chicken skewers were tepid as was the carne asada. Appeared to have been sitting somewhere. Paella arrived shortly thereafter. 3 shrimp 4 mussels and 4 clams. Rice had no flavor. Appeared to be seasoned with turmeric and no saffron. Really tasted like boiled shrimp and rice not traditional paella seasoning. Actually dish was predominantly rice with few pieces of fish.

Absolutely delicious!!!! Everytime me and my wife come here.it's been the same consistency since the first time we can which was 5 years ago we love this place!!!and honestly me and my wife has kinda kept it to ourselves lol. But definitely a must try, you won't be disappointed.
Food was delicious , definitely worth trying !! The ambience can be made more intimate then it would be a perfect date night place
What I didn't know it was on the seventh floor inside the Meridian hotel, and that should be noted because I was driving around and around trying to find it. My GPS couldn't find it because it was inside of the hotel that should be noted. Thank you
We ordered 2 drinks at the bar and the bartender took 30 minutes to give us one of the drinks and then another 30 minutes to deliver the other instead of preparing both drinks at the same time. He never looked up to acknowledge us and the service was terrible at the bar! Will not return for drinks at the bar.

I'm really sad to have to say, my husband got food poisoning from our dinner last night... Initially everything was great and tasted amazing, we were happy going home. But he ordered the Paella de Diablo, and something was clearly off with either the shrimp or the chicken, as his stomach began to feel off as soon as we got home.
