We sat in the outside terrace, grateful for a beautiful summer day in October. Service was excellent, our waiter spoke Greek and was very knowledgeable and helpful. My mezcal drink was perfect. The lobster pasta and the beef pasta were delightful! I can't remember the name of the dessert, but it was described as puffy pillows and they were delicious! Will definitely be back.
We were in Chicago for a conference and to celebrate a birthday with a family member who lives in the Oakbrook area. We had eaten once before at Violi, when it first opened. We liked it a lot and thought this would be a good spot for a birthday celebration. We made a good choice!

After recent changes to the menu, I feel disappointed with the shift in flavors for some dishes. The octopus used to be a standout, perfectly balanced and delicious. Now, unfortunately, it has a strong onion taste that overwhelms the dish and even carries an unpleasant smell.
The lobster linguine, which was another favorite, has also changed for the worse; it tastes overly sour, almost like vinegar was used, which masks the seafood's natural flavors....
