This is going to be a harsh but honest review - because I really struggle with this place. I live in the neighborhood, and I want Avenue Ale House to succeed, but they just keep shooting themselves in the foot. I just had my third consecutive bad experience here and i’m done with this place. I’ve been here enough times, over a long enough period of time, to confidently say that the owner of this restaurant invests zero dollars or effort into repairing or improving the experience.
This is the only restaurant where we’re literally the only customers and we still have to walk over to the bar to ask for something. The servers are all sitting there, looking at their phones. The food, which was once decent, is now very mediocre, the bathrooms are always nasty (like they have a long standing and very unaddressed plumbing problem that causes them to smell bad - like, they literally try to mask it with fans and candles), fruit flies swarm your beer, and the service is exceptionally sub par. If you go for lunch on a weekend, there are always more employees than there are customers and I suspect that this place is slowly marching toward its inevitable death. I fully anticipate driving by one day and seeing a handwritten “closed for remodeling” sign taped to the window, only to have the place never reopen again. One star out of obligation, another for ambience.

The food has gotten much better recently. Had the pork tacos, tuna salad and potato skins. All excellent. Hard to justify $16.50 for one neat Buffalo Trace bourbon however. Very quiet-no diners at all at 6PM on a Friday evening.

The experience was not that great. The food, though, presented well, was flavorless. This was so disappointing as my family and I chose the location to celebrate a birthday. We traveled from south of Chicago.
We spent over $100+ for flavorless food. When we were seated, immediately spinach dip arrived to the table. Nearly 30 mins later we were informed by the manager that the spinach dip was for a other table, and we'd be charged. After explaining what we experienced, the issue was resolved.
However, I found it odd to pay for someone else's mistake. This was expressed with the manger. The spinach dip was thought to be complementary given how quickly it arrived after being seated. We had not even met our server or placed any orders.
Ordered vegan tacos, baja tuna tacos, half rack ribs, burger, dragon mai tai, sprite, and amaretto sour. We likely will not return.

The food was good but I think the next time I'm gonna get a burger.What I got was catwith cornbread and white rice.And the person that I went with ordered a chicken maple glaze, his plate was a lot bigger than mine. But next time I think I'm gonna go for a burger. And we had drinks. I had a white sangria. My God, that thing was so delicious. And he had something called a paloma but their version.
I would give the food a 10/10! I placed a to-go order, and even after bringing it home, everything was still absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! Food is good!

Love this place. Recently had the privilege of trying the chicken sandwich. Fantastic. Amazing. Wonderful. So big and juicy and crunchy. Yum. Also stole a bite of my boyfriend’s turkey burger. Scrumptious. Delicious. Will get next time. We tried the wings and flat bread a couple months ago and I remember the pure bliss of happiness while eating those too. This is our third time coming here and I’ve never been disappointed. Drinks are great. Canned and draft beers are reasonably priced. Cocktails are smooth, tasty and most importantly strong. They kinda sneak up on you if you’re not being careful. Always a great time though. The rooftop is such a vibe as well. Love love love it here‼️
